In 1979 when Iran took their country back, the Rhetoric was much as it
is today except for the Nuclear issue. This is when I Volunteered for
the military. I thought we were going to war against them then, and I
believed the worst of the Iranians. We have never since heard one bad
word from them since, until we invaded Iraq. They did not threaten the
US in the 28 yrs following that time and if we were to leave Iraq I do
not believe they ever would. Ad (dam I hate this) is correct, Our
presence, and the Bush Administrations actions of attacking countries in
the ME are what fuels the fear and anti American Rhetoric you see now.

You know if we were not in the area Israel would already have made a
strike on their nuclear facilities, and the problem would be little more
than hearing the rest of the Arab countries ***** about their actions.
They do that now anyway!

That is pretty much all BS. They supported Hesbollah in Lebanon when the
marine barracks were bombed there. Hundreds of marines were killed.

They didn't take their country back, they stole it from the ruling party
in a coup, backed by outside funding and support.

When they took back their country as you called it they confiscated real
property and murdered enormous numbers of people. After that they
subjected everyone to extreme religious control in every aspect of their
lives. They confiscated the oil reserves and the military for their own
advantage and support. They solidified their power and began to create
ever larger troubles in the region, exporting arms and anarchy around
the region. Since then they have been after ever larger weapons and they
never once stopped with the anti-American rhetoric. They killed off so
many of their own people that the average age of the population is
around 30, most of whom have been indoctrinated to hate the West.
Blinders off now and pay attention.

If they implemented in your neighborhood what they implemented in theirs
even you would be out there with sticks and rocks defending your home
until they killed you in cold blood. Or perhaps you would simply join
then saying, "Well they have the power so they must be right" and "If we
show them respect they will show us respect too and leave us alone and
go home".

Some right, some wrong, all in all a twisted history lesson.

The population dwindled, because of the Iraq, Iran War started by Saddam
Hussein with our blessings. Too much to debate there, and Ill leave it
alone.
I could have sworn last year it was Syria funding Hezbollah..
I guess it depends on the propoganda of the day.
The other day I read someone blaming it on Lybia!
Hmmmmmmmmmm............Very interesting........drinker drinker

Iran Iraq war. There is a good example of Iran getting along with its
neighbor. Yep I imagine they lost some people there. Syria supports
Hezbollah but Iran has more money and can provide more.

Yes I know the last paragraph was sarcastic and a little unfair as many
will raise the question of the US support for Iraq's side of the war.
But remember, Saddam ran his own country and the Ayatollah ran his. They
did not have to fight, certainly not to that extent. It has been said
that the war enabled each ruler to consolidate power over his own
people. Both countries lost enormous numbers of people. The rulers for
each side became stronger.

Like ZZ Top in the song says, That ain't working, that's the way to do
it, money for nothing, chicks for free. If only Iran and Iraq would do
it like ZZ Top, making theirs by music on the MTV.

But they hate that don't they. Music, evil. Rock and Roll, evil.
Swimsuits, evil. Free Speech, evil. Dissension, evil. So they have used
war to consolidate power and build personal wealth and claimed to do so
in the name of Islam.

In respons to Philospher.

There is a vast difference between Nuclear Weapons and roadside bombs.

The one is controlled by the government the other is sold by any arms
dealer with greed as his motive and access to old technology.

I for one find it odd that we forget so quickly who trained them to sell
weapons.

Did not some misguided factions in the US strike a deal to sell weapons
to Iran, take the money they gave us, buy weapons for a country in South
America with it, then use the weapons Iran had payed for in that same
South American country also, leaving Iran with no money and no weapons.

I beleive it was called the steal of the century.

I do not understand why we are so concerned with Iran. Al-Queida will
be its own undoing. They are not in Iraq to fight the United States we
are but an excuse. They are there to obtain a new place from which to
continue the plans they have in their agenda of hate. If we leave Iraq
Al-Queida will have no enemy to strengthin them. Like a grizzly with a
sore tooth they will attack what is about them. Their true colors will
show as they attack the innocent more and more to accomplish the goal of
control of Iraq. The People of Iraq will see the truth and destroy them
like a farmer destroys moths that eat his crops.
