Goodness I miss you
Every day is much too long, my laugh must be broken I can't turn it on
Of course that won't last, you'll conjure up something dumb to say
Why else would you be as loved as you are?
Needed so much...
For weeks now my brain has been working
Plotting the perfect gift, for friends as close as we are not just ANYTHING will work
and so begins my tale, it's sure to make you smile
See, I had this idea, Moon cheese is s omething nobody has!
Trust me, I checked the dairy isle..just in case
Coming up empty I turned to google,
NASA must have a number of course!
After an hour of disgusting elevator music, and wishing today I was deaf
A kind old man came on, shyly I babbled my request, he laughed, a gentle sunny sound
"Okay kid I'll help you out why don't you come on down"
Finding a sharpie and a pink sticky note I left a message for my dad-
Went to get moon cheese, be back before dark
Next I grabbed a sandwhich bag and hurried to carry out my mission
The spacesuit was annoying, stupid helmet much too warm
Ah but the rocket! that was the best!
Soon we ghosted next to space junk and rocks way too ugly
Abruptly he took us down...down...down
Thud we landed on a glowing surface
Nervously I followed him out the door
Now I know why that thing at the fair was a moon bounce
It took some doing but I scooped up some cheese
Elated and sorry to see it end we headed home
The growl in my stomach grew to a deafening roar
It would be awhile until supper,
So unfortunately the sandwhich bag in your package holds gummy bears instead
Yea I know, everyone has those,
Hey when you come home we can bug NASA together
Only I want to see Mars this time
Sorry I ate your moon cheese, Happy birthday anyway
I love you!
