Topic: What am I? | |
---|---|
It cannot be seen, cannot be felt
Cannot be heard, cannot be smelt. It lies behind stars and under hills, And empty holes it fills. It comes first and follows after, Ends life, kills laughter. |

i know, but do you want me to spoil it this soon? No don't spoil it if you know. Let people guess, although this isn't a hard one. At least I don't think it is. I can be wrong though |

I know what it is but owl remain it
for if I give it away owl sustain it Then it will fall upon this thread killing it deader than dead Although in truth it’s already here and the thread is unaffected Isn’t that stranger than strange can be and totally unsuspected? |

Yeah I think this riddle is to easy for most
Go ahead and say the answer if you like |

Well, if I got the answer right, it should be vividly apparent to you by the poem I wrote.
If I got it wrong then chances are my poem wouldn't make any sense. Having said all of that, the second line of my poem in the first stanza could be a little bit misleading. And of course, the entire second stanza is a bit of a paradox afterthought. Owl come back and explain my poem in terms of what I though the answer was. The answer that I believe is it, makes sense with both my poem, and your clues. So if it's not the correct answer then it might be a valid second answer. I think these things are only 'easy' once you know the answer. I didn't get it immediately myself. But once I got it, it's like "OF COURSE!", what else could it be? Of course, if my answer is wrong then owl be in for a real treat hearing the correct answer. As a further clue to my answer owl just say that if you take the time to read my poem aloud it will be as far away from the correct answer as it can be. Does that make sense? Maybe people who figure out the answer could just give more hints demonstrating that they know the answer without saying what it is outright. Or I could be wrong. Do I have the correct answer? If I do everythign I said should make perfect sense to you. If I don't, then you may not have a clue what I'm talking about. |

The riddle is answered by another riddle. How convenient
Perhaps we both have the same answer If not perhaps one will come with the answer of what I am thinking. I hope that someone comes with the (one word answer) eventually though If anything it was fun to create a riddle and even more exciting to read a riddle as a answer |

how's about another clue...
it can fill a room, yet leave it completely empty. |

Ok, since you insist on having a concrete answer I'll give it.
You can tell me whether or not I was right. Here is is in my original poem using the answer instead of 'it'. I know what it is but owl remain silent for if I give it away owl sustain silence Then silence will fall upon this thread (a metaphor for a dead thread) killing it deader than dead Although in truth silence is already here (threads make no sound) and the thread is unaffected Isn’t that stranger than strange can be and totally unsuspected? So is that it? Or am I wrong? Maybe I'm wrong but this seems to fit in with your original clues. It cannot be seen, cannot be felt Cannot be heard, cannot be smelt. (silence fits all this) It lies behind stars and under hills, And empty holes it fills. (yep still fits, unless it's a noisy hole! ) It comes first and follows after, Ends life, kills laughter. (what else could it be?) |

how's about another clue... it can fill a room, yet leave it completely empty. He's sick of riddles. He demanded the answer. But it's obvious that you knew it too. |

ANOTHER CLUE...
you can set your clock to it it's never late but many never see it's departure. |

Is it darkness?

it's smiless post, so i'll let him congratulate you!

Is it darkness? Congratulations! You are a clever man |

I think even 'time' would work.
I would argue that darkness doesn't seem to fit your first clue. It cannot be seen, cannot be felt Cannot be heard, cannot be smelt. In a sense darkness can be seen. In the sense of the absense of light. Also if darkness is a metaphor for bad feelings or bad times then it can also be 'felt' That seems to fly in the face of "killing laughter". Darkness in the sense of the absense of light wouldn't necessary kill laughter. But darkness in the sense of sad events can be 'felt'. I think either Time or Silence actually fit the clues better than Darkness. I want a refund. |

Like the first "riddle me this and riddle me that" I did and the answer was a egg. I am sure there are more answers to that riddle if one thinks about it. but what it is worth the (time) hasn't stopped and a moment of (silence) will ensure us to contemplate about this riddle to where eventually (darkness) will arise for us to once again go to bed with our own individual thoughts about it. |
