For all the crap about Mitch McConnell gets, he has served his state very well. Alot of his earmarks in the past helped Kentuckians

Your point is lost! No, her point is not "lost". Your point is lost not realizing that it passed by the entire senate and it made of 56 dems and 41 republicans, clearly a dem-majority. So instead of arguing about in a dem-republican terms, you should be seeing that it doesn't matter what party the person belongs to, corruption is equal on both sides. Wrong! Its Pork not corruption. Wrong thread, and the Dems werent the ones speaking from both sides of their mouths! |

How old are you? First it has to pass both the House and the Senate. Then the President signs it. If he vetos it. It goes back for another vote. It then must recieve a two-thirds majority by both the House and the Senate. If it does it becomes law without the President ever seeing it again. you left out the inaction on the president can also cause it to pass There was no inaction by the President! Of course I would not expect you to comprehend any of that! |

4 Democrats and 6 Republicans! After all that noise made by the Republican Party! What a bunch of hypocrites. While I do agree with your end point I have to say that I'm surprised you used a topic that suggested this was about pork and then talked about earmarks. One of the bad things to come from the last election is that it confused people about the two. Pork is nearly always an earmark but not all earmarks are necessarily pork. Every state wants to get federal money to help out and most everyone of them does. Some get a greater share than others and that's wrong but it is the deal. Frankly though if it wasn't for earmarks nothing would happen that's the way the system is designed... sad but true. |

$1,791,000 Swine Odor and Manure Management Research, Ames, IA Um as I recall you said you supported this one Fanta because of the swine flu problem. Personally I felt it totally off base as the study would have had no effect on what happened in Mexico. But you have to decide which earmarks you support and which one's you don't. |

There is nothing wrong with Pork! Our reps are supposed to take our interests to Wash. Correct I did say that and I havent changed my mind. What Im getting at here is the hypocrisy of the Rep Party! |

They are politicians what do you expect. There's plenty of that go around with both the two major parties. It's like I said before no modern day president has gotten into office unless he said what he thought the people wanted to hear, has nothing to do with what he will actually do when he gets into office. The point is you implied that everything on the list is pork and the fact it it's not. And unless you list out how much pork each got you haven't proven a thing |

If its incorrect Davey its the Authors fault! That is the title of the article. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/lists/senator_earmarks/inouye.html?utm_source=yahoo&utm_medium=link&utm_campaign=news I'm sure the figures are correct for earmarks but they are not correct if you are going to call them pork. You have to separate the two, again they are not the same thing. I did see a list earmarks anyalized to determine what was pork somewhere but I'm not sure where. I'll see if I can find it. I don't recall if either party showed a greater share than the other but personally I don't care I think both sides suck on that issue. FTR, as far as the swine smell thing is concerned, I don't see how the rest of the country can benefit it is an internal thing for the state of Iowa and should be paid for by that state. So in my view it's still pork (no pun intended) |

Not meaning to say I don't trust you, but I don't know the source even to know if I trust it or not. Again I really don't care they are all hypocrites including Obama who said there would be no "earmarks" and not only are there earmarks there is pork. |

The research on swine odor and manure management does benefit everyone. I don't believe that. And unless you've got details about the study that show otherwise you can't convince me. |

to become a law...the bill has to pass through the house and the senate, then to the president. the president can either veto it or sign it And if he vetos it it goes back to the house it originated in. If its passed by two thirds it never goes back to the President it just becomes law! |

Of course here you go off on another side track!
Why would the President Veto it? He got the bill passed by letting the Repubs add Pork! There is Pork in every bill! |
