good? yes.

oscar? no.

no william shatner? thats the point.

he wasn't supposed to be shatner. he was supposed to be james t. kirk. he's an actor. if he had acted like shatner did kirk, this movie would've been funny. although there were times when i saw a little shatner in him.

this movie was good but it was good in the sake of seeing something fun and exciting and nothing really too interesting and important. sadly, the film was not totally dedicated to its roots. some of the meant to be funny scenes were totally unnecessary. for example, the scene where scotty accidentally gets beamed into the big water pipes. that was a waste of how many minutes? also, i think the side characters were poorly developed and poorly introduced. but hence the fact that this IS star trek, the audience really don't need an introduction. i guess kirk and spock are far more important characters than the others. which is actually true.

Paramount is going to do what every other big studio does to try to compensate for their lack of writing talent. Dust off an old movie (in this case a TV series) and tweak it. In this case they are using "time travel" to explain a serious and hard core retelling of the original series.

Too bad I can't tell Paramount to go over this one. They tore WillyBilly's character apart. Personally I like the new Dr Who by BBC FAR FAR better. They were able to preserve the original flavor of the TV Series perfectly! Star Trek has gotten too far out of hand. Coming into the running with time traveling Romulans and blowing up Vulcan was too over the top.

The new Kirk is too Billy Billy Bad Ass. At least Willy Shatner has reason to be skunked. Paramount is just getting big headed ideas and they are about to unleash another sucfest on us!

Try to convince me this is not a pilot for some new TV version of Trek!

Why couldn't they focus on other ships in star fleet during the time of the OG Trek like when the planet killer was flying around? Or how about the Constellation which was the Enterprise's sister ship? Oh I forgot! They can't do something it takes Englishmen to do. That is integrate a movie and a TV series properly!

That and Time Travel AGAIN? A contradictory Paradox!scared scared scared scared

I will bet the TV series to follow will have plot holes big enough to eat 18 wheel trucks.
