When you are in a relationship, do you feel ok to take on some of your significant other's "baggage"? Or do you expect them to stow it?
What about your baggage? Expect them to help out? |

When you are in a relationship, do you feel ok to take on some of your significant other's "baggage"? Or do you expect them to stow it? What about your baggage? Expect them to help out? I have found that I have no problem with their "baggage" or I probably wouldn't be dating them in the first place. And vice versa. |

Relationship? What's that? What is this significant other you speak of?

Everyone has baggage...if you say you don't, you're kidding yourselves...some may have giant suitcases, others may just have carry-on... If you care about the other person, you help them deal with theirs & vice versa...& move on... But if they wallow in it forever...they should do it alone... Baggage is normal but it doesn't have to drag you down.

Everyone has issues of some kind and they often bleed over into new relationships dealing with it is part of the package deal. It's called being supportive.... |

baggage can not be helped or just put away. It was something that affected our lives and possibly we made changes because of it. And usually these are good changes. I am a firm believer that the past is the past and that's where it belongs. But sometimes it sneaks back into your life . A small reminder. and you need to address it. And if your in a relationship you should be able to share that baggage. But as one poster said. You can not let it drag you down. That's why they make closets and attics... here have a lollipop its raspberry flavored.

Yeah, everyone has baggage and skeletons hiding in closets too.
I just do not want that to carry over to the next relationship if I can help it. It is all part of growing is it not??? |

I try to keep my bags light and carefree. Occasionally a family member or job messes that up for me......but other than that I try to be open minded.

I don't think I've been in a relationship where they had no baggage. I don't mind though. If there is something that needs to be worked out, that's what I'm there for.

I've got a decent sized closet. I'll take in the baggage, but it is to be kept in the closet and/or unpacked and put away in a nice orderly fashion.
