Not what you asked, but I used to play a massively multiplayer online WWII fighter sim game called Fighter Ace. You can play it offline, but the real fun is flying with friends and squadrons to take over airfields and supply lines. Many different WWII aircraft modeled with their different flight characteristics and armaments. There can be 100 or more people flying with or against you at any time.

Great fun. There is a subscription required to fly online. Not sure if there's a cost to download the game itself, which can be flown offline.
