I've murdered as well. Negligent homicide.

I'm guilty of cleaning the bird cage on the balcony and then leaving it out overnight because I got sidetracked.... it snowed... the (two)birds died.

Oh now thats harsh...did PETA show up, lol.

No, but the kids seemed to be on VERY good behaviour for a few days afterwards. laugh

So thats what it takes to get your kids to be good huh?

Actually, they've been great. They were very young at the time and I guess the whole 'mom forgot and they died' thing got to them. Funny to remember that sort of thing all these years later though.

I am further distressed because I had named one of the tadpoles after a guy I'm seeing, and he thinks it's the most romantic thing. Can you imagine the gloomy insight he will read into the death of his tadpole???

That man your seeing......Don't leave him outside too long. Next thing you know, he could be belly up.laugh laugh laugh

Hmmm...you're right. I will give this careful consideration. Might I assume there would be some type of...compensation?

I suppose this could spawn one of those deep religious, or philisophical conversations.. we might need to head to the religion, orrr science, orrrrr philosophy forums...

I murdered my class' tadpoles today! Well, on accident. I think it was more negligent homicide. I set their habitat outside in the sunshine for a couple of hours. It wasn't a hot day, the high was 70 degrees. I went out to check on them once and thought all the flopping around they were doing was pirouettes of happiness and gratitude for such a lovely outing. I was mistaken. A couple hours later, I went to retrieve them and both were belly-up. I am way scared to tell my students. They are only five years old! MOST traumatic. I'm kinda traumatized myself!
My Ex did the same thing with the kids pet turtlegrumble grumble

Go to the pet store, get some frogs to replace them with... then just tell your students they matured really fast!!!

Im guessing this was one of those habitats where you buy the tadpoles and they arrive in the mail and once they mature to the frog stage, they climb out of the water onto the land? Just buy another and have it overnighted and it will come with new tadpoles. Or you might be able to buy the tadpoles separate. with everything sold online, anthrax and what not, you should be able to acquire some tadpoles. ohwell

Do the switch or get some new ones shipped overnight. I know it is deceiveing however, having taught preschool and now 8th grade better to not cause an uprise. Choose your battles.flowerforyou

I agree. Its not as much about the right or wrong of deceiving the kids as having them become upset that their teacher is a homicidal maniac. You know how kids that age can overreact and then if one of them goes home all crying and upset, the parents will get involved. Its better just to alleviate that entire situation by overnighting the tadpoles and starting over.
