Hey guys- what kind of intimacy have you found on mingle2?
For me there's two types- one within the forums and one with talking to individuals. Can any of you guys describe this intimacy? I need it for a final paper :) And I won't use your name unless you ask :) -Claire |

I don't think that you can actually have intimacy on a public forum............to be trully intimate to me is one on one in person, not an email, not an im, not even in a phone call

Intimacy in friendship is a different animal than what the word "intimacy" usually implies. "internet intimacy" is an oxymoron to some degree. The other side of that coin is that true intimacy is something that happens between two brains, not lips. The brains can be two inches apart or a million miles. |

The definition of intimacy: the state of being intimate.
Intimate: marked by very close association, contact or familiarity - of a very personal or private nature. So in my book intimacy and online Forums do not associate, but i do get what you mean. I would call it more the Forum a place to share and open up and learn than an intimate area. When I'm intimate it is between me and one person a close one and not thousands and thousands I have never felt touch or even talked to. |
