Gauging or stretching of the earlobes (sometimes lips and septum Ive seen) was seen in Asia as long a the piercing has been around. Several cultures use this type of modification as a right of passage or just to show uniqueness to the tribe. I have come into rights of passages in many ways. I've had tattoos, I've written an unforgettable poem..or even just celebrating with friends. I have always seen that body modification was a type of art. We are given these blank canvas's and we should express ourselves with it. I know it's not for everyone though. Art comes in many forms..and for me..something draws me to the art of pain. The adrenalin rush you get from it is one of a kind. Then there is the reward for the art itself. Like with my new tattoos on my feet, my dedication to my favorite band. Now I'll agree some people take it out of hand. But we have to remember that we are all humans, and we all do different things that makes us feel unique. So today I took a dive bomb into the the gauging culture. I'll admit..it sucked a little. But it has been something I've been wanting to try so I gave myself no limitations. It doesn't change who I am, but this was a moment in my life I wanted to remember. All the negative I have pushed out of my life, I want to remember what it felt like. For once I feel like all those days of hiding in the dark is starting to pay off!
