don't sleep because you think you should - sleep when you feel tired. some people function just fine after being awake 72 hours (or more).

Exercise and lavender!

I used to suffer from terrible insomnia, but i made a few changes and experimented to see wat would help. This is wat i found to work for me.

Firstly, look at ur diet, ur sugar intake, and what time u r eating. In my case, i was drinking coffee and having sugary snacks at night. Once i changed to decaffe and cut down on the sugary snacks, i started to fall asleep quicker. I can still have bouts of insomnia, and at those times, i put a couple of drops of lavender oil on a tissue, and put it inside my pillow, works a treat as it is a natural sedative/relaxant. Also, doin some exercise before bedtime can tire ya out.

Happy sleepin flowerforyou

if you truly have to sleep, take benadryl (diphenhydramine). it sells as anti-histamine and sleep aid, both are the same thing. pills are 25 mg. toxic dose for 180 lb man is over 1000 mg. you can safely take 100 mg to sleep, provided you didn't take any other depressants (like alcohol), and are not allergic to diphenhydramine.

Also, halflife is 2-8 hours, which is fairly long as far as drugs go. some people feel tired the next day if their bodies don't eliminate it fast enough.

I usually don't have a problem with sleeping because I work so much I have very little time to do so. However, this week has been insane. I can't sleep, keep waking up when I do fall to sleep, dreaming and to feeling like I have slept when I do wake up. To much stress in my life is what does it for me. It is easy to say eliminate stress but way way way easier said than done.

Stress is 1 of the main causes, and sorting out wat ya can helps, but yeh, defo easier said than done.

With the close of 2008 I thought I was having a nervous breakdown. I believe if it weren't for my two wonderful and beautiful daughters I would have. I am their only parent now and they need me and they need me to be strong. I surpress thoughts and feeling to get through the day and they surface in my dreams.

I guess the secret is not to suppress it.

I always talk thru my problems when i can, and if i cant, i write my feelings down.

MELATONIN - natural herb. Take one 20 minutes before bedtime. A friend told me about this because I have difficulties sleeping at night. I did some research.. your body naturally produces Melatonin.. at night your levels of Melatonin are higher (which makes you sleep) and during the morning hours your levels drop off.. which is why you naturally awaken.

As "some" people age, their Melatonin levels decrease. Since I have started taking this (3mg) at night.. I've had no troubles sleeping. Try it.. it works!! flowerforyou

I've suffered with insomnia for many years...as does my sister & my neice. I've used Valerian on occasion...you can get it at an herb store...but be careful! It can make you have some cuh-razy dreams!

Take a Soma or two with those Budcicles. You'll be sleeping like a baby and dreamin' of bunnies. laugh

A round or 3 of good hot sex works wonders too. Especially if it's like..acrobatic! lol
