If he's the boss. He's the boss. Going legal would cost money. A lot of money. If he's the boss ya gotta bear with it or move on. Ya could talk to him if it would help

He's probably trying to over-compensate for other short comings.

Sounds like he's a real prick, and no I would think you could band together, if there is one other person who feels the same, it would be better, then report him, you prob could record it and take it to an attorney and prob have a case...people don't need to be talked to this way in order to work, he's an SOB and should be stopped..just kill himlaugh laugh

prolly not

does he do anything that is actually illegal? (being a prick is not illegal)

or if you feel justified, get one of those little recorders the kids use in college classes and record the way he talks to you. Then play it for his boss

or you could do what I would do and break his nose with your hard hat and walk

If he shows his face on the job site let him have an accident. I had a prick boss one time who had tools raining from the scaffolding when he came by. I 'accidentally' kicked a piece of 4 x 4 from two stories up that nailed him right on the head and he wasn't wearing his hard hat... Didn't see him for two weeks AND he got a ticket by OSHA for not wearing his hard hat on a construction site. When he got back he didn't learn his lesson. He shot his mouth off again and this time he got caught by several men in a room of the office building we were in and got softened up a lot. He told his superiors "He tripped" to explain the bruises he got. He was civil towards us after that. His superiors were not happy about it because I am sure they had their suspicions but there is a boss doing his job keeping the men moving and then there are power trippers.

Then again if you can tape his abuses get a good labor attorney and take his ass to the mat.

Personally I would beat his ass with a piece of pipe and quit but that is just me. No job is worth being abused over.

If everyone feels the same as you...then band together and go to his boss. You guys hold the power here. You can threaten to walk (all of you or take it). If it were me I would go to his boss and tell them about his ways and let them know I was about to quit. Be looking for another job. Construction is everywhere. If you are a good worker shouldn't be too hard to find another one.

Guys like this are a dime a dozen and do exist. However they can be brought down.

There is a such thing as labor laws and help out there.

I had a similar situation But I was the Facilities Manager. We had a VP (female) who was a real bitoch. made several accusations against me about abusive language etc. Yet everyone knew I wasn't. So I brought in a personal pocket micro casett with voice activated microphone. carried it in my shirt pocket and the mic was like a tie tac.. I also informed my bosses I would be taping conversations from now on.. Well It came to pass she made another complaint. I said no problem played the recorded conversation for my bosses at a review and said what is she talking about.

point is you have to have more proof then hear say..... your word against someone else's... and you also have to let your people know you are recording every conversation you have at the work place . I used the reasoning of self improvement and covering your own butt.

It depends somewhat on the type of abuse he is inflisting on you. Is he harassing you in general or using disparaging terms to refer to you based on some inailainable trait of yours? Race, color, gender, age, etc? Is he doing it based on religion some deformity etc? All those are protected categoties under the law and would qualify as discrimination. have you or the other employees brought it to his attention that his actions are demeaning or offensive? If not, why? Pulling the guy aside and asking him not to call you names or insult you is pretty appropiate but do it tactfully.

If he continues to rail on you or take further action based on that discussion he is breaking the antidiscrimination laws, sort of. The problem, for you, is this will be his word vs yours unless other empooyees are willign to come forth and support yoru allegations. Additionally, you work for a very small company so that acton could force the guy out of business.

The best thing you can do, in my opinion, is tell him descreetly that his comments offend you and ask politely to stop. I wish you luck brother.
