have you ever been judged as something you are not before being given the opportunity to prove otherwise? 80's -early 90's, rode harley, tats, long hair today, not sure, no examples, everyone loves me |

well this has been nice and all ... but what i had in mind for the thread was for people to elaborate on some examples instead of just saying yes/no. It's a hard topic...it means something different to almost everyone. alrighty then For some it's race...for some it's gender...for some it's single vs married status...for some it's what side of the "tracks" you live on or the job you do...the level of education you have or don't have... What did you have in mind when you posted??? |

Yeah, when I was working construction I had a job installing flooring and within 2 years went from $6.50/hr to averaging $50/hr because I was a quick learner and damn good at what I did! Then I lost that job through the slow season. When I went looking for another job in the same field. Even though I had experience and exceptional provable skill, I had a hard time finding anyone who was willing to pay someone my age more than $8/hr.

Okay so i'll throw my two cents in
I've been judged on Female working in a "man's" job My weight My hair color (pink and purple tends to attract attention) My tattoo's & piercings And now the funny part is, I dress professionally for work, I've got normal hair color, lost the weight but still get judged because I'm too "normal" |

Pretty much now that I've tamed down the outside it shocks the hell outta everyone when I do reveal too much of the inside |

Pretty much now that I've tamed down the outside it shocks the hell outta everyone when I do reveal too much of the inside The flip side is the responsible, predictable person (seriously TAME) who's done the right thing while raising her kids and everyone thinks they KNOW her... Yep...that's me! I scare the crap outta people when I push their paradigms and I don't even do anything all that crazy! It's just that they THINK they have me all figured out and then find out I'm not actually quite what they expect. Funny as heck, actually...I rather enjoy making them squirm a little! |
