Thank you everybody for your help...Phuque2 was just in Colorado Spgs to get a rather prestigious military award...the Presidential Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal for a mission that he successufully completed in Afghanistan & then subsequentially was wounded in Iraq last year...he also recieved a Meritorious Unit Commendation... He is now on his way to a surprise visit to Texas to come see me...Hoorah! Thanks for all that have or are serving in our military! 
OMG...that is awesome!!!!!!! way to go phuque2!!!! we need to take him out for drinks when he gets here

Since he will likely be taking the 287 into the 114 going into Dallas to hook up to I-35 E, Tell him to take EXTRA care at those interchanges there are laden with Heavy Truck Traffic and half of those drivers(Big Trucks and 4 wheelers alike) barely know how to merge.
If he can make the Run from Amarillo to Dallas late in the evening or early in the morning it is much safer. |

closer to maybe 7 or 7 1/2 hrs... Amarillo traffic on 40 to the 287... there is a Mall near there and like 5 truck stops

Oh and on the 114 there are traffic lights too, TX Hwy Patrol clock radar in that area heavily...
