laugh one time at work I was changing the garbage in the lobby during an overnight shift... and someone came to check in. I did have gloves on but after I threw the trash in the back I told her I would be a moment so I could wash my hands. She actually thanked me 3 times for that. To me, it's just something you should do... didn't need to be thanked. Apparently it's not as common as it should be.

I walked in a restaurant and they guy was taking old already cooked fries and re-deep frying them to heat and serve them. I asked for fresh fries and he rolled his eyes at me and said they were coming. So I stood there and watched waiting for my order he started taking other peoples orders and there money then handling the food without washing his hands. He was scooping the fries with his hands onto the plates. His hands were all over the burgers as well. I went to him. You did not just seriously handle peoples money then handle my food did you? He got pissed off gave me my money back, and I left and said you can bet that I will be calling the health board on Monday. A customer looked at me and said WOW picky arn't you? When it comes to my food YES I am!

Was I in the wrong here?

No, you weren't in the wrong, IMO. That's disgusting.

I've had people handle money and then touch my food. They look at me like I'm nuts when I comment on it and ask for different food. frustrated

My father has had it happen before too. He went home and called the manager about it. He won't go to that place again and he let them know that.
Sad thing was, this was the owner!

Yikes! The owner. That's even worse. He's teaching others how to be that way.

I had a friend quit working at a restaurant because he was cutting raw meat and the owners wanted him to cut pastries with the same knife. He wouldn't do it. They said he didn't have time to wash the knife. He quit. Sad thing - he needed the job.

That's exactly how sicknesses and all sorts of crap spread. Cooking AT MY OWN HOUSE tonight, you wouldn't believe how many different times I washed my hands. If you handle something, before you mix the raw steak hands into the salad, you WASH them.
Hand washing is essential. Even with me I was them in a downward motion because I do not want the germy water running up my arm.

My child's Aunt has an immaculate home. The husband is a pharmacist. These are no dummies. She can go shopping or spend the day outside and
she comes in and makes a salad for us without washing her hands.
My child knows better then that.

We've going shopping in the mall for a few hours and then stop to eat at one of the restaurants. My child and I wash our hands before eating. She never does.

I went in to eat breakfast here at a local cafe a year or so ago. The owner was cooking in a sleeveless t-shirt and a pair of shorts. I could see him through the door to the kitchen as he flipped a bunch of hash browns, reached in his shorts and scratched his nuts, then picked up a couple eggs and cracked them on the grill. I could not even finish my coffee thinking about what he might have stuck in the coffee. Yucksick

and as a sideline....you should see how they make Dunkin' donutsnoway laugh

It's common sense.

I honestly don't know what to say to her about it without offending her. My child spends the night there sometimes. She's my ex's sister.
