Topic: Extreme Backpacking - Anyone interested? | |
---|---|
Around July I was planning on taking a backpacking trip through the woods. The woods that connect Florida, to California, that is.
I want to backpack all the way from Florida to California, in 30 days. I'm looking for a few strong, determined individuals who'd like to join me. All you'll need is a packback with spare clothing, and the typical survival tools in case we get lost in the woods for awhile. We will also put together some money to buy a huge tent, and everyone will wear a piece along with their backpack, as to work together. Do not bring cash. Bring only a debit with at least $400 in case something happen. We will be stopping in restaurants, possibly (but rarely) hotels, and other such places if we so need/desire. I'm doing this to strengthen myself, push myself past my limit, and get more team work experience in, in preparation for the Marines. I have 2 other Marine friends joining me on this trip, and possibly one other friend. I'll need at least 3 more people however, and we will meet before we take off. If you are in a state inbetween Florida and California, you can join us at a rendezvous point when we arrive. Thanks, and happy packing. Pvt. Cloud |

Roughly 2,339 miles
It is going to take longer than 30 days bud... I did it in the late 80s from St. Louis to Virginia then Virginia back to St. Louis. Nearly 1900 miles took me 45 days and I was in peak physical condition laden with bare essentials. |

Yeah are you both interested?
And no I meant 30 days to get to Cali... Not both ways. So 60 days altogether. |

I was replying to the distance you plan on humping versus the time you want to do it. 2,339 miles at maybe 43 miles per day not counting, terrain delays, health issues and weather. At best your likely to make the straight shot in 54 days... Love to make the trek with ya man, but I do not have time these days... |
