never run from a tornado

run around the tornado. run at right angles to it

tornados take a twisty wobbly path but generally travel from southwest to northeast and seldom last more than a few minutes on the ground

tornados are really cool. from a distance

Well the first one july 3rd 96 we outran it in my 4 wheel drive with amazing video footage that got sold to the evening news. Second one was july 5th 98 in coralville iowa. We hid in the ditch on I 80. It threw an oak tree 9 feet in diameter against my semi. Came out of the ditch mud covered and bumped and bruised. It blew one miles worth of train rail cars over on their side right next to us. Loud. From now on- I run forrest run.

I'm more of a stay and watch kind of person. I've always been that way. I've photographed and videoed many hurricanes and tornados over the years.

Now that I'm living in Oklahoma, I'm sure I'll get plenty of chances to see and record more. I have a storm cellar, but probably won't run to it until the last minute.
