So have you recovered at all from your cold yet? I mean... you were sniffling even when I helped load your doggie and that other stuff to your apartment! shocked

Well... I personally wouldn't wait until Monday if you're actually getting worse. There's obviously something goin' on that is a cut above your common cold, and it's gotta be looked at. You could have any number of serious ailments beside what you think is happening.

ohwell

I just talked to a guy today from charles schwab he told me that he had this last week.. he went to the dr and the dr said 'ya just have to wait it out'.. sooooooooooo that tells me there's nothing they can do...

Well... your doctor should at least be able to prescribe something to alleviate the pain and discomfort, like codeine-infused cough syrup (to sooth the throat and stop the coughin'), antibiotics (should you have a bacterial thing going on), expectorants to help you get rid of any phlegm that might be trapped in your lungs, and whatever else he or she might feel the need to prescribe you.

So it's technically NOT a matter of waiting it out as the dude from Charles Schwab told you.

Well exccuuuuuuuusssssee meeeeeeeeeeee!!! laugh

Above everything else, the doc might be able to take culture tests to determine what the thing is that's messin' with you. I mean... god forbid you found out you got ebola or something, right? laugh

oh now we know I don't have that and strep is a 1 in 1000000 chance...

Fri 04/17/09 11:50 PM
Well, it doesn't have to be strep throat. It could be laryngitis, which can be just as bad... it could be whooping cough (if you're coughing THAT violently, that is), or it could be bronchitis, or it could be some other ailment of a bacterial or viral nature.

That's something for a doc to figure out, though.

But you DO stand the chance to get some of that schweet codeine-infused cough syrup, though- not only does that stuff work REALLY well at suppressing your cough AND cutting down on your sore throat, but the codeine will ensure you get a nice high afterwards! bigsmile

Well... if you feel phlegm every time you try to breathe, then it's probably bronchitis. If you can't take deep breaths because of your cough reflex, then it's bronchitis. If you feel like there's crap in your chest that you can't get out, then it's bronchitis.

If that's the case, go and get yourself some Mucinex at your local CVS pharmacy- it'll help get some of that phlegm outta there.

Unfortunately, it won't get at the underlying cause of the situation, which is the bacteria that's trying to grow in your lungs. That's where antibiotics come in.

Lost some jewelery? That's not good. ohwell

And you didn't have to go through the full-body examination to get that diagnosis, either!

BTW- one of the underlying things that can trigger bronchitis is smoking, too. The smoke from ciggies will irritate the bronchial passageways and cause them to inflame. And when that happens... *BAM* bronchitis. laugh
