Could you define a non-believer.

Everyone has beliefs.

Mine just might not agree with yours.

This does not make you a non-beliver in my eyes.

just a different believer.

A non-believer is anyone who does not believe in non-human extraterrestrial aliens. huh

The Lion will lie down with the Lamb?

I have one of those women with the my name is in the Book of Life and when I get to heaven, I will be so sad not to see you. I told her how about not seeing me now.

the "christian" religion i heard of, was "there is no greater love than to lay down one's life for a friend"

and to "love thy enemies", and that "god was love"???

so the religion you speak of as "christian", does not seem to be founded in the "greatest" words of christ, which he himself said which words were the MOST IMPORTANT, and such was the very first premise and founding of the word "christ i an"...

what that believe in christ, does not believe the same within itself that christ believed, naturally, and without collusion, which was to love thy neighbor as thyself???

sounds like you are right on track man, if that is what you both want most???

christ also said each was a "free will being", and that each was a "FREE moral agent", and that GOD give man the desires of it's heart, so what the heart WANT, COME FROM GOD???

it is only to try to make other's want what self want, for it's own self want or satisfaction, that christ WAS EVER AGAINST, WITH ALL WORDS AND ACTIONS, EVEN WILLING TO DIE FOR "THIS PRINCIPLE", WHICH WAS SIMPLY ALL AS EQUAL???

peace man...

My christian friend has told me that because i am a non-believer, and because someone i have recently fallen for is christian, that we will not work out for the long term.

He's even gone as far to say that because i am a non-believer, i am essentially unmarry-able by anyone at all who is a true christian.

what do you guys think...?

Unbeknownst to your 'counselor' friend, he is not referring to a 'true christian' in his little moralistic sermon.

He is referring to fanatics, fundamentalists, and obsessively dogmatic people, whom confuse their religion with some sort of barbaric 'army' which 'never LETS IN the ennemy (infidel)'.

It is sad to note that the friend whom advised you, unfortunately seems to belong to that kind of paranoïd army.
If so, he can't help you much, nor anyone else for that matter. But maybe, if he is your friend, YOU could help set him straight.

As for the 'christian' person you have fallen for, if he IS NOT A FANATIC, but rather a person whom is centered and solid in his faith and beliefs, there is no reason for him to judge you in your own beliefs.

There is no reason that 'religion', as an army you might belong to, be a 'condition' of a loving and trusting relationship.

Should it turn out to be a condition for that person, I trust you will have your answer: that person would turn out to be more committed to his fears than to life, trust and love. That would make him, the unlovable one!

Simple life test!

One time a preacher told me my old girlfriend's kid should be put up for adoption if we were to get married because I should'nt love her like my own, I should start my own pure family. I was like WHAT?!?!?!

This type of thinking has kept me away from any orginized religion for over a decade.

Who makes up those incredibly silly rules for Christianity? Surely it is not in the Bible. The Bible teaches how we can help others live better lives, not to shun them because they are not in our Christian club!!

This way of thinking is like a plague, somehow it must be cured

This kind of thought stems from either racism or the bloodlines of those who think they are the "chosen people." It is steeped in the dark history of the different bloodlines of the earth, and the quest for a superior race. It separates people into 'clans' who just as soon kill you if you are not their relation or race.

I am an aethist and my best friend in a protestant....we have been friends for 18 years now and he has never once tried to convert me.

I think you should talk to your interest and see what he has to say about it.

What that preacher told you is not normal at all. A normal preacher would have told you to love that child as your own.

I may be an aetheist but even i know that Jesus (my roommate believes and that all I care about :) i may not but he does)
was said to have spread love not hate.

That preacher should have his calling looked into. That was a cruel thing to say.

I've run into this a few times in real life.

Better to know up front that it's such a huge issue that they'll never be satisfied unless they can "convert" you.

It's something I look for in profiles now, too -- "Must love God" or "Looking for God-fearing Christian man" -- stuff like that, it's always time to click to the next profile....

That's truly ironic too because if men were allowed to treat women the way the God of Abraham commands them to, I don't think women would like it very much at all.

The truth is that if a woman wants a man who's truly Christ-like, she'd be far better off seeking a non-Christian man.

I know quite a few Christian men who treat their wives like a piece of property. It's not uncommon at all.

i agree and disagree. unbelievers are very lovable. IMO it's a difference thing. you have to have things in common. some people are ok with the total opposite.

but nonbelievers are very lovable just as believers!!!!

Im getting to the stage where maybe i would discriminate in the same but opposite way. If a woman was too much into a religion, i dont think i could cope with that. Believing in Christianity is so hypocritical and illogical, and i find it very hard how anyone of a sane mind can do it.

Women are illogical enough at the best of times!
