I thing I have noticed for quite some time now on here, is that most of the people on here (well the ones that post in the forums) almost seem like they don't want this to be a "dating site." I mean, it is called a dating site correct? Some of these guys post on here about how they are having no success when writing emails to girls, and I feel for em. I really do. To me, that is what it should be all about. Communicating back and forth via email or chat. Don't get me wrong, these forums are fun and all but putting your random opinions out for everyone to see...I don't know, I don't really get to "know" people that way. Plus the fact that the chances are slim to none that the people you do get to know on the forums are in your general area. I am just saying, people really to need to try to get to know someone, and then go out on an actual DATE. That is why I joined. The forums are just a fun little extra. Time and time again though, I see these girls put a profile up, then deactivate it in a couple weeks, even after having some decent conversation. What is the point in that? Is it just for *hits and giggles to see if guys will email them, and then they find out they will and are satisfied with that? I remember back about ten years ago, when the Internet was more of a newer thing. I joined a couple dating sites, and bam! I couldn't stop the emails from rolling in. I had as many dates as I wanted. Things seemed to have changed, or women are just so cautious now, that they really don't use these sites for what they are intended for...I don't know.

OMG.. someone that lives NEAR me!!! I must be seeing things!
I'm here to actually communicate, get to know and to meet someone. Everyone lives so darn far away! Soooooo basically, I play in the forum's now and again. |

I've made friends I'll never see and never date, and dated a couple of people...
It's all good! |

I find the forums a good way to get to know someone. I mean, we could go through all of the profiles like a catalogue and pick a person out randomly like a mail order bride. Pick a person.........any person. Based on what??? Looks? a short blurb that is meaningless??

Well... being that originally this site was only open to Yanks and Canuuks, and only went international a little while ago... and I was the only aussie on here...I would be a goose to say I was looking to date.
How am I gonna go out for dinner after a 2400 hour flight? I would look like crap! And Gypsy's right... I want to develop a sense of someone...and watching them in the forums gives lots of insight.. Imagine clicking on little miss perfect, to find she is foaming at the mouth in the sex threads ALL the time.? Oh, maybe you do... |

it is considered a dating site, but by not using it as such allows you to meet many great people without the pressures of actually dating. i believe all the single people here would love to find "the one" but are not EXPECTING it so as not to be disappointed~ maybe???

Who knows why people deactivate profiles? I know I've deactivated mine a few times over the past couple years, when work or life made it so that I knew I wouldn't have the ability to respond if someone emailed me. Or, maybe they met someone on another site, or in real life. *shrug*
Everyone brings their own expectations and preferences to the site, and the variety offered by the forums seems to take the pressure off in some ways. |

I think the reasons that people are registered on this site are far and wide. No, Im pretty sure this is not a "dating" site per sey. Its more of a "social networking" site along the same lines as myspace or what not. Many of the people here are looking for dates but not everyone of course. Just relax and have fun. Try not to take offense by what others do. If it does not infringe on your own enjoyment of the site, then dont create a problem where none exists.

Someone once said, "Don't take life to seriously, 'cause you'll never make it out alive" Isn't that from Van Wilder? |

Just because you think everyone should be here to find a date isn't going to make it true. If you want to find dates here, go for it. If it weren't for the forums, I probably would have left the site long ago. |

I thing I have noticed for quite some time now on here, is that most of the people on here (well the ones that post in the forums) almost seem like they don't want this to be a "dating site." I mean, it is called a dating site correct? Yeah, but there's a lot more to it than that. I think it's a sort of "sound-byte" phenomenon -- I mean, "dating site" is short and sweet and pulls 'em in, whereas "site intended for social networking and sharing jokes and building a virtual community and maybe even getting to know someone well enough for dating" is awkward, and people would fall asleep halfway through that description. I know I did. I post in the forums quite a bit, and I would like nothing more than for this to BE a dating site. It just hasn't worked out that way for me. Me too. But, like I said earlier, it just hasn't worked out that way for me. The forums are just a fun little extra. Time and time again though, I see these girls put a profile up, then deactivate it in a couple weeks, even after having some decent conversation. What is the point in that? Is it just for *hits and giggles to see if guys will email them, and then they find out they will and are satisfied with that? Things seemed to have changed, or women are just so cautious now, that they really don't use these sites for what they are intended for...I don't know. I don't know the answer to that one. I do know that the results, in things like number of e-mails received, etc., vary drastically from site to site -- but none of it matters if a.) everyone is too far away with to establish a relationship with, and b.) there isn't anyone compatible in the mix. |

id like to title this site 'a tightly bound, and commonly misunderstood, social network with possible applications as a internet dating site.'
