I have been a photographer for 12 years and I HIGHLY recommend Canon cameras above all else. You do NOT need a 10 megapixel camera unless you plan on making poster sized prints with the pictures. Go with the canon SD line and get something around the 5-8 megapixel range and you should do fine on price. Also, buy it from a legit electronics store, not walmart or some super cheap website.

I need some names and models of a decent reasonably priced digital camera.

I recently bought a Canon SD-1100 for under $200 bucks. It's an 8-megapixel point-and-shoot ELPH-style camera that works quite well. It's compact, it takes REALLY good pictures, and is pretty sturdy to boot.

Yeah, I have a similar one and love it.
