Sorry, but last ck. just has to be paid when scheduled. Fed law. Firing doesn't mean you have to pay them at that moment. Companies choice. That's what I thought too. |

That's what I thought too. here in oregon they have to be paid within 24hours if they dont get paid.(do to getting fired) so i guess each state is differnt when it comes down to that.. but still it shouldnt be. as it should be all the same |

I'm sorry you lost your job. But...somethin isn't adding up here..no last check?? and security to escort you from the building?? No notice?? Oh yeah isn't that something, that is becuz the manager that we have at our office isn't a manager she is an accountant and has no people skills. She has done that before when shes let other people go. always having security there. its like a sign of authority. If u only knew the way we got treated there it would make u sick. Trust me i didn't do anything to have security called other then to say i was getting my stuff before i left. |

Well i lost my job on thurs and i am a nurse working an oncology office giving chemo. Higher in the senority but got fired by asking me for my key. No explanation, no meeting just a letter handed to me as they kicked me to the curb. Needless to say my world has come crushing down I am a damn good nurse. Anyhoo the real problem is my boyfriend isn't the most supportive he thinks i should want to go out and go do things its only 24 hours and my whole life has fallen down I'm i wrong or is he being selfish. They are begging for nurses where I live in CT. E-mail me if you want more information. I had my hours cut, but was treated the same way. No explanation, just "we are cutting your hours" and you have this many hours with this client, and this many with the other. I don't know what to say about the boyfriend. When I think about it, I was in shock the first day. It is good to get out and not dwell. |

Ya there's a lot more to this story that we are not hearing. Nope nothing more then a letter that they gave as i walked out the door saying due to finicial changes my job is being terminated. Trust me i wish there was a logical reason. I worked hard and the company started losing money so the manager never liked me cuz i stood up for myself. The Doctor only cared about making money and not about the patients or his employees. And i was the direct opposite. |

They didn't give you a reason? Surely there has to be sort of procedure they are required to follow. Maybe the boyfriend is just trying to get your mind off of it? did they give you your last check as for by law when they fire you they have to give you your check within 24hours nope no check Actually new federal regulations state that a person must receive their paycheck on the normally scheduled day they receive it. There is no 24/72 hour "law". If you had one check due Tuesday and another 3 tuesdays from now, that's when you are, by law, supposed to get them. Generally, state law follows federal law. |

Nurses are still highly in demand. Don't sweat it. Take a day off and relax and consider your next move. You have one. Oops. I misread the part about your boyfriend. Maybe it's a good thing if you worry and stress, to have someone there to help you relax and see the bright side. Being supportive doesn't always mean agreeing with you and especially not drowing in your sorrow with you. (Sorry, boyfriend) In my life, every bad thing led to a better thing. It usually does. |

I've been in nursing for 17 yrs, 8 as LPN, 9 as RN.
There is a home for everyone who is a nurse. File unemployment, take a few days off, enjoy yourself, decide whats next. Make this an OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU to do something different.Move to another city if you can, try another field in nursing. If a door gets slammed shut in your face, bust open a window. |

You have every right to file for (and receive) unemployment compensation, as you were fired without valid cause, for no reason. I would also highly suggest placing a call to the Better Business Bureau, as well as one to the corporate head office, if they're not aware of the situation that's been going on.

Sometime it good to be selfish. Would suspect that working with oncology pts you've seem a collage of reactions and emotions. While going through CPE training my supervisor told me something rather surprising. "Sometimes you have to enjoy your pain." He didn't mean swimming a pool of self pity. Oncology pts had taught me the futility of that. They did teach me much about embracing life...the good, the bad, the uncertainty, the laughter, the tears, and the importance of sometimes just sitting still and embracing the moment. What ever that moment may be. |
