Hmm, that kinda question strains my brain ...
I KNOW there's an ansewr ... The melodic answer, the lyrical answer, the sentimental answer ... Agghhh ... I just KNOW there is an answer ... It's NOT this one, first clue ...

Yea....how dare I ask a question like that. It's all good. Caroline No is just such a beautiful, heartwrenching song. I totally get Brian Wilson and his world. (sigh). It's a sad/happy place to be.

True dat ... I get REALLY upset about the childhood when I listen ... SO much so ... That ... I do NOT listen to them often ... Ar$e-hole Dad ... like mine ... 
I'm such a sensitive artist type ~ typical heart on sleeve heart-on ... ... That ... I just end up going away for awhile ...

Brian Wilson is more of a man than most. He's so sensitive ,but that's all he knows how to be. That's just how he is. Some people need to be nurtured. His genius is un-deniable but it also destroyed him in a way. Very sad.

Actually, to me, the Beach Boys have absolutely nothing to do with the beach or surfing. My Beach Boys trip is all about Brian Wilson's crazy genius mind and what he has to express. I just totally get him. Pet Sounds could be the soundtrack to my life.

Aww - prolly the age difference ... I get where ya are comin' from, and that's the pain part I connect to also ...
But, In my elementary years ~ when it broke ~ I oft' went w/ this woody~wagon load of teens to the beach ... and listenin' to the BBoys ... So, I get it on both levels ... ESP the violent/tempered raging father bit ...
But, yeah ... from what you have shared ... I can SO easily see the resonance w/ Brian for you ...
