My pick for the UN Human Rights position our President has appearently agreed to.

IMHO…

It should be a naturalized US citizen that truly believes in We the People… and has known first hand the oppression of others from his native land.

Such a person would have our best interest at heart and would be ‘prepared to wait till hell freezes over’ before letting other member states weasel out of true human rights.

Sometimes you have to engage.
Best to engage with the proper weapon.

We shouldn't even be in the U.N. in my opinion.

We need to send the UN back to Geneva where they belong. Not in the US existing on our backs for free. They are nothing more than an ineffectual debate society of the elitists of our world. Not one of them have any more interest in elevating the world because empires need slaves to function. Poverty is their tool. Not their mission.

why not?

The UN ain't the best origanization in the world...

But it does a lot of good also.

As long as we don't give away our way of life.

I will admit i am a little biased about the U.N. I've got the vibe that many leaders are pushing for a one world government, which i am against for obvious reasons.

Aside from that. We seem to be the strong arm of the U.N. As you see the U.S. ends up acting as the World Police, which essentially is the U.N.'s job. Unfortunately we end up deticated our resources to being the enforcers. There is good and bad that comes from this.

But, my political philosophy is to stop being the world police, start minding our own business. These "preventive" wars are much too costly for american tax payers to continue to support. I say secure our borders, pull out of the U.N., maintain a strong defense. Follow this along with the practice of responsible spending, and you will cut our taxes down by about 3/4th's. Remove about 3/4's of the senseless laws on the books, and teach people how to become prosperous and take on their own responsibility. JMO

The U.N.unfortunately wouldn't help much with that plan as it many times provokes us to become the world police.

But with this the UN would not be needed. They need to have adversarial relations in the world to justify their existence. If there is one thing to be said about the UN look at how it handled Bosnia. They did exactly what Russia did to Czechoslovakia in 1958 except with more air power. Who footed most of the bill? USA! Who sent in a bulk of the troops? USA. Every time the UN expects military action America is the one they expect to act as the police. Not Russia Not China.

I am in agreement with Drivinmenutz! The UN is just as ineffectual at preventing war as the league of Nations was.

What have they done to giver Tibet back its Independence? ZILCH! The stupid as*holes have not learned that appeasement does not work. If China was such a benevolent nation they should let Tibet run itself. Our leadership is idiots playing the UN's game! They castrate us. They bleed us down. They are intentionally weakening us to "share power" when the rest of the world is trying to achieve our ideals. We are the Atlantis of the modern age but now we are so complacent and arrogant we are letting our own country go to hell trying to build other corrupt sh*t holes that need to sort out their own corruption before they have a chance of achieving our dream. We can't pay for their ride like the UN wants us to do! The UN has to realize they owe US and not the other way around! I am sick of America being expected to tow the rest of the world along on OUR blood, our sweat, and OUR TEARS!

It was an American idea to have the United Nations based in the United States. Quite a few countries were actively opposed to it.

What does it do?

It preserves monuments, provides aid, keeps the peace, gives a semblance of decency to military misadventures, and employs hundreds of liberal arts majors.

Liberal Arts = a degree that means NOTHING!

Liberal Arts is a hollow and meaningless. Engineering is a degree, Communications is a degree, There are even Art Degrees, even Human Resources is a degree but Liberal Arts? What a waste of educational dollars!

Pansy wanna bee intellectual wastes of skin with no real world experience!grumble grumble grumble grumble

And they all want to tell everyone how to live their way!explode

The UN headquarters is in Geniva. The aid it provides is out of our pockets. American's give more charitably then the rest of the world combined. We give too much! We got what we have from hard work! Not intellectual debate!

What is a total shame? A buss full of liberal art majors going off of a cliff and one of the seats is empty.whoa
