All the gun rights advocates seem to be able to quote part of the 2nd amendment in their sleep; the second part. I say read the whole amendment and things aren't exactly crystal clear:

“ A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. ”


A well regulated militia. Hmmmm....



The potential of the people, to be that militia, are necessary to keep our Government from overstepping their boundaries. By allowing them to swat team everyone, to usurp the rights of gun owners, banning firearms, you're allowing Government to step all over the Constitutional rights of fellow citizens, plus you remove the only buffer that will keep us from becoming a total 3rd world police state.

I'm not even a gun owner, but I understand Liberty.


Many share your view, war. I just wish I would stop hearing such nonsense from the gun people like, "What part of 'shall not be infringed' don't you understand?"



I think Drivin's many quotes from the Founders shows what the 2nd Amendment is all about.

I get it.
Go after the people who "legally" own firearms because we can FIND them.
The bad guys are a little lazy with all that paper work.

Find the bad guys and lock them up.
I've got a feeling we'll be seeing some "Ruby Ridge" types of situations soon.

For the sake of argument, let's say that the amendment reads:

"The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed"

Forget that pesky miltia thing for now. How exactly do we define "arms"? I think we'd all agree that you or I do not have the right to bear a nuclear weapon. Where then, is the line drawn?

Excellent question. I think that only in matters of a clear and present danger to the general population. Things such as many High Explosives, and any weapon of mass destruction. These things we cannot defend against.

I don't see where things such as Ak's are much more dangerous than a semi auto hunting rifle. They are dangerous but they don't put a single maniac at any great advantage over someone with another weapon.

I see what you are saying though. The closer to get to the line, the more blurry it gets.

Emanuel says that people on the 'no-fly' lists will not be permitted to own guns. He does not imply the NRA are terrorists. The kind of tough talk he's engaging in is usually the preserve of the modern Republican party. He even ends the speech with their favourite banality. Surely the G.O.P. should be thrilled?

i would take what bill mahr says with a grain of salt if i remember correctly he is an avid gun control supporter

as far as the well regulated militia line in const 9they argue it say well regulated militia are those that may own arms but as soon as you become a well regulated militia ----- you just became a terrorist group ---- imagine that
