would you teach a subject based on facts and conclusive evidence or a subject that deals with ideas and theories? Or would you simply say hell with it and teach Phys Ed?

Ideas and theory - the basis of what I teach. I enjoy seeing the students form their own individual opinions and defending them, even to the point of debating.

I haven't really seen enough "Facts" to answer that...

There is some "Conclusive Evidence" in many subjects, but Math+Geometry/Trigonometry is the nearest thing to being "Factual" that I've encountered... (Other than Taxes and Death.)

Phys Ed sounds good too...drinker

Example:

I was a Mine Safety Instructor...

I taught the use of Explosives...

The only thing I can say with "Absolute Certainty" is...

1.) A charge properly prepared and detonated WILL go BOOM! (oops If the explosive was properly manufactured.)frustrated

2.) The farther you are away from the blast, the better chance you have of NOT being injured! bigsmile

Yep, Phys Ed sounds good...

math is factual 1+2 always equals 3. Not nearly three or almost 3. All math is. Proven theories are too. You can guarantee that a chicken will come out of an egg from a chicken, not a snake, fish, or whatever.

laugh laugh Teaching it in middle school is a scream. Our science teacher always comes in with a hysterical story about questions asked or reactions students had to the material.

'When the student is ready, the teacher will arrive.'

Whatever a child wishes to learn, is what I would assist them with.

It's what I do...as a parent, an adult and a participant in this society.

We are all educators.

I teach science. I think you have to have a nice mix of both facts and ideas and theory!
