Topic: Random acts of kindness. | |
---|---|
Did you ever get an email or letter, out of the blue, with a little compliment or nicety attached that just made your day? Something sent to you privately that had no motivation other than to say "hey, I like what you stand for". These are the kinds of things that, to me, renew my faith in human kind.
So I say thank you to the kind soul that just made my day. What kinds of things make your day? |

To make someone smile or laugh when they are feeling down.

Heather, I went into work on Friday after having a pretty bad Thursday and someone left a pack of ho ho's on my desk. Not only did it make me smile, they were yummy.

I write those kinds of emails occasionally It makes me feel good letting someone know that they have touched me in some way so that they know they made a diffrence I also receive very nice emails as well so many nice positive people are on here

See now, doesn't take much does it? Anonymous things or small gestures mean MUCH more than grand public speeches or things with high monetary value.
As long as we keep paying it forward. |

Maybe I'm more of a realist with a touch of fairy tale thrown in, but I prefer to hear their opinion, without censorship. (I'm just rambling here, sorry). When someone takes the time to send a random note, letting you know they appreciate something you have wrote down, I think that is shows true character, no matter what their personality is. Both of those "types" of people make excellent friends. |

It makes my day when I get to work and find out

I love random acts of kindness. Giving and receiving. Unconditionally, with no regard for if you will ever be thanked or noticed for it. I used to pay someone else's toll for them at the toll booths around Chicago.when I was driving truck.

And they probably did something for someone else too, because what you did made them feel good inside. That's what I'm talking about! |

I hope so. There's a country music song about not letting "the chain of love end with you." I don't remember who sings it.

I am a big note writer both in my personal and professional life. As a 'boss' I try to tell someone that I appreciate them or their work on a regular basis. It's completely amazing the results that manifest! |

I had someone send pizza's to the house right after I got home from the hospital when I had my daughter. It was so nice not to have to worry about dinner and just focus on the baby and relax. Plus, family did not have to worry about making dinner.
Now, if someone I know has a baby or has been ill and has family looking after them, I try and send a couple of pizza's or some chinese food over so it is one less thing they have to worry about. |

That's a sensible, tangible thing that someone can do to help out. It's a little uncouth, but when my friends have had deaths in their family, I just show up with cigarettes (if they smoke) and pop or juice. I figure that's something they were probably going to have to run out to get anyhow. Saves them a trip and one less green bean casserole. |
