Oh.... I know that. I used to live up north. Winter here is nuthin', still.....I'm looking forward to some nice Spring weather.
No kidding Pol... what kind of moron would live there anyway??? wait just a minute.... |
Worst winter I ever experienced was when I lived in Michigan.
Well, I was in Great Lakes Naval Training Base back in 82. I lived in Alaska. Ya'll can keep it!
Alaska! Jeezus....I think I'd go absolutely mad if I lived there. I'm sure it's peaceful and all but I just don't do cold well.

Alaska is BEAUTIFUL country in the summer. I couldn't take 20 hours darkness in the winter though - along with the cold. Well guys it's time for me to head upstairs. Catch ya later! |

Night AD!
I was in the panhandle of Alaska. No Polar Bears or Walrus either. |
I had relatives that went on a cruise. Part of the cruise was around the coast of Alaska. It was springtime and they took a lot of pictures. It looked absolutely beautiful. If I went I'd love to see some wild-life, as long as I knew I'd be safe that is.

You really don't have that much to worry about. It's pretty safe.
Have you ever watched Survivorman on TV? One episode they dumped him off to live a week on the coast of Alaska. It looked pretty hard for him to survive the week. It seems very unforgiving.
If he had basic living skills. It wouldn't be so bad.
He lived on sea-weed and fish he could scavenge from fish that the seagulls had discarded.
Well, at least he didn't get scurvy.
That guy's a lunatic. We take so many things for granted now. Ever think about how hard life was for people before all this technology and all.
Yeah, my Granddad gave me that lesson. He was a boss at one of the CCC camps during the depression. Now, I would compare him to John Wayne or Clint Eastwood. But, he would haunt me!
I would feel a lot more secure if I was well schooled on survival skills and knew how to live off the land, ya' know. You get used to the convenience of things, but if they're gone and you don't know any basics.....yr screwed. I mean can you make a fire without matches? Do you know how?
Two ways actually. Lens of my glasses and if I am feeling enerjetic, the bow, friction deal. The Lens works the best!
Have you ever actually done it? I don't think I've ever tried to tell ya' the truth. I was never in Boy Scouts or anything. I know how, just don't know if I can...ya' know?...cuz' I never tried.
Yes, I have done it. Another way to doit is to carry an ember from an earlier fire. That is kinda tricky. Gets hot if you don't do it right.
Of course, I have the oposite problem. Computers kick my tail! |
