I normally smoke Marlboro Medium, but since our wonderful state governor saw fit to raise the taxes on them considerably (and is fixin' to again!), I've had no choice but to revert to rolling my own. I've saved a lot of money, and I've noticed I've smoked less because it takes time to roll a pack, but they taste like ass. Same here...but the tobacco I buy tastes pretty good! I average about $11.00 a carton of filtered smokes... until april 1. i make my own filtered cigs. the tobacco i buy is now 1 lb for $10. april 1 it will go up to $25 i can make them for under $1 a pack but it will cost $3-$4 after the increase Holy crap! We're neighbors! When did you hear that??? i get my stuff at pipe dreams in arlington. they had a sign posted. it's been all over the news |

What else is in the tabacco??? Gold?? That's just wrong. It doesn't surprise me. The last carton of Marlboro's I bought here in Wisconsin cost me $57, and that was already some time ago. It's cheaper to buy smokes on the reservation, because the indians here don't pay taxes. |

The price on the make your own stuff is going through the roof too.
The idea is to make the cost prohibitive to new smokers to discourage young people from ever starting. Maybe if they taxed condoms this way people would stop F***ing, at least according to Gov. thinking. |

What's your brand? Do you buy by the pack or carton? How much do you pay per carton/pack? How often do you smoke? I generally smoke Pall Mall Menthol Light 100's. I buy them by the carton. Usually around $22.00 per carton at the 7-11 down the street. That's about $2.00 a pack...and they burn really slow. Sometimes so slow that I'll only smoke half and save the other half for later. How often depends on if I'm drinking or not. If I'm not drinking, about half a pack a day. If I AM drinking I can go through a whole pack in one night.  
Used to smoke Gitanes (French) and Disque Blue (French) but in 1986 cold turkey and still don't smoke

I smoke whatever is cheap long as it's Menthol 100's. When I lived in Michigan I used to go across the bridge once a week and get smokes at the duty free store in Sarnia, Canada. $10 a carton then. Not sure what they are now but sure still cheaper. When I have the money I buy by the carton otherwise I piece meal and get a pack at a time.

Man.. am I glad I quit so long ago... I was a pack a day got up to 3 packs a day.. By today's costs = 9 cartons of Marlboro reds @ 63 ea....... $567...a month?
Now I really am glad I quit... All of you have my hopes that you too will quit someday, but to each their own.. |

I recently asked my doc for a prescription for Wellbutrin so I can use it with the patch to quit. My doc wants me to do Chantix instead. |
