kid's.. or do you like to use tough love?? When my daughter was small and say learning to ride the bike.. Id be jogging next to her and she would fall.. Id say your fine get back up and hurry! I could tell if she was really hurt or just faking it! |

Somewhere in the middle. As you say, when you know your kids you know how to react. Too many parents are stuck in one attitude or the other, which works to an extent but once the kids are old enough they figure you out and if you're predictable, you are easy prey.

I'm pretty much in the middle, as well. But, with four kids I've got to use a little tough love, or I'd be in trouble. They won't grow up to be the independent, responsible, self-loving people I want them to be if I baby them all the time.

I tend to be one way or the other in different moments and with different kids.
I noticed that about myself yesterday.. My oldest fell and was being all dramatic and I said "oh ur ok". Had the two year old fell I would have scooped her up and ask if she was ok. Damm that was mean of me. Im working on it. |

I go between both depending on the situation. Some people might say that I baby my son, others might say that I do just fine with him.

When I was raising my children I strove for balance of them knowing I was a shelter from all storms at the same time if they needed a push I gave it to them.
I never lied to my children I was always honest, forthright, they knew their boundaries and my expectations as I knew theirs. I think my way was great and I also believe I was very blessed with some great kids. They are all adults now and well they are doing okay.. Rules in my home were very black and white.. |
