So tonight as I was walking to the coffee shop with a friend we saw this band wearing kilts going into a local pub. I mentioned to my what do kilts of to do with Saint Patrick's Day? And IRISH holiday. Kilts are Scottish not Irish. She was like, "Ya you are right, that's weird."

So I just looked it up to makes sure I was not mistaken. And no sure enough according to Wiki it is Scottish:

"The kilt is a knee-length garment with pleats at the rear, originating in the traditional dress of men and boys in the Scottish Highlands of the 16th century. Since the 19th century it has been associated with the wider culture of Scotland in general, or with Celtic (and more specifically Gaelic) heritage elsewhere. It is most often made of woolen cloth in a tartan pattern.

Though the Scottish kilt is most often worn mainly on formal occasions or at Highland Games and sports events, it has also been adapted as an item of fashionable informal, and formal, male clothing in recent years."

So please tell me, what do kilts have to do with Saint Patrick's Day?huh

Maybe their kilts had nothing to do with the holiday, and were part of thier band "uniform"....I used to work retail, and we would randomly get guys in kilts at all times of the year. Not a lot, but it happened.

Maybe so, but this is not the first time I have seen the Kilt associated with this holiday.

I would guess either what Nyteflame said, or they were hoping that their audience was not going to be as observant as you were.

St. Patrick's Day is an Irish holiday and Irish people also used to wear kilts, not just the Scots. So, to carry on traditional attire some guys feel the need to wear kilts for St. Patrick's day.

Celtic is an all encompassing term. I have Celtic blood as I have both Irish and Scottish blood in me.

Kilts are worn by Celtics, and the Scottish. That is true, but also Celtics can be part Irish.

Two different kilts as well for the Scots and the Irish, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kilt
