If someone cheated on you would you take them back or would you call it quits for good?

I can tell you that in this case I would forgive I have before and maybe I am just too nice or naive I don't know which one but I have done it more then once. Generally I give people 3 strikes then there out. Unless its something horrible...

Three strikes unless it's something horrible? So a guy can cheat on you three times before you dump him but you draw the line at what? Murder? Beating you to a pulp?

If I were cheated on they wouldn't get a second look let alone a second chance... For me it's about respect and that is the ultimate disrespect...

Well murder for sure... I guess I should have worded that differently. I didn't really mean it like that... I just mean I beleive in giving people a second chance usually unless of course it was murder or someone hit me..

You need to figure out why he is cheating on you.

and later, regardless of his answer, dump him. But at least figure out if you're doing something wrong and if you are, then you know what to change. flowerforyou

I tried to forgive, several times.

But he mistook my acts of kindness as a sign of weakness.

I forgave numerous times but her guilt finally got the best of her...Taking care of my dad left me so depressed I didnt have any fight left....Cheaters very seldom stop cheating they just get better at it or they leave on their own because they cant stand themselves anymore. My X was very self destructive for about 2 years after she left.

I tried to forgive, but couldn't forget. Once is it with me.

Forgive? Yes, because it hurts you way more than them to hold a grudge! But...move on. To find someone who is trustworthy, and shows respect for their partner.

if one give a second chance, because it cannot stand to be out, then it does not forgive you see, but only seek for itself to not be without, bringing fantasies as pain but self inflicted they be, bringing to naught and to the knee's, forever living in self doubt, as the goal be not good but wisdom that free.

I would forgive, but not take her back. I don't do second chances.

Not all people who cheat are the typical "cheaters". Sometimes cheating can be the result of a relationship in a bad condition, and can be a symptom, not the reason for the demise of a relationship.

Although I likely would NOT put up with a cheater, it would be because of knowing ALL THE FREAKIN' EFFORT I had put into the union, having talked, tried to elicit communication, read, refer to experts and friends.... If a person cheated on me and I had done everything in my power to grow the relationship, he'd be gone.

Now, I see all the time about this "once a cheater, always...." crap. And one strike and he/she's out. So, what did my parents have that YOU ALL don't? Were they nuts or stupid to reconcile things? They had love, family, commitment, and they CHOSE to get to the root of the issues that led them BOTH to cheat on each other at one point in their relationship. It wasn't easy; sometimes downright horrid to deal with each other for quite some time. Did they ever do it to each other again? Nope.

Some folks can handle this breach; some cannot. Some CHOOSE to handle it; some choose not. Big difference between those who have no character or backbone and those who do a stupid action once and regret it.
