I love it all... but the best thing is hearing them say they love me to a bazillion pieces. (They say this every night before bed.. before the kisses and tickles lol..)

And I love how when they're feeling badly, or hurt, I'm always the first person they come to...

Watching them learn is absolutely amazing.

And I really love it when the baby pats my face and gives me a big kiss.. lol. ITs nice to know that even when they're learning to show their preferences and share their emotions, I'm first on the list. ;)

I have taught my sons the tools to be gentlemen, now I am actually getting to watch my oldest son, who is 20, show me how well he did listen. My son got engaged on Valentines Day to a very wonderful girl, so now he is beginning his life with her. It is truly amazing to sit back and watch them together and see how well my son treats his fiance. I now know that everything I told him, he listened. And with my youngest son who is 14, its great watching him starting to turn into a kind young man. I have two wonderful young men that would make any mother proud!

Fundog1962, I realize you quoted Phuque's comment, but I echoed her sentiment; therefore, I will answer as to why I replied in this thread. winking

- The OP didn't express the subject matter in the topic headline, and I opened the topic.
- I wasn't going to reply until I saw Phuque's reply, and I decided to quote her and toast her polite reply since I agree. winking
- The OP didn't instruct "parents" need only reply. It's a public message board and polite answers are always welcome! waving

Just as some people love having kids and doing the family thing, others are just as happy NOT being parents. I didn't realize that could be considered offensive. Live and let live -- and post politely! tongue2 flowerforyou

BTW, LovetheLord, you are on fire with fun topics lately! smitten

My fave part is watching them with pride as they try new things, music lessons, sports, etc. And to see how excited they are!

It's not something you can sum up in a few words, its everything. The way that they take what you taught them and learn from it in life. The way they stand strong during rough times. The way they grow and develop their own minds, but you still see the things you taught them standing strong. It's that no matter how old they are they still run to you when they need help. Being a parent is the Best thing in the world.

I used to think it was the actual day to day raising them. Now as they are raised and they are parents. I think it is watching them pass down the family knowledge, the lessons in life that has been passed down through the generations.

I honestly don't think there was one part of being a parent that I wouldn't do again. There was some nights when I was worried sick trade it nah not for anything...

Now I am getting to watch and enjoy the next generation.

I love to watch my daughter learn and discover all there is in life. To see it through her eyes, hear her tell it, see the joy that she exudes over each new thing (eggs in a bird nest, a new bubblebath, watching a movie that I enjoyed as a child) and remember how I take things for granted, but was once like her.
