I wanted to make wine in california and you know what??? They never heard of a booze store with supplies!!! I felt like I lived on Mars!!noway
...that's terrible! My local brew and spirit making store has everything. From equipment to aging barrels to mini kits to a walk in cooler full of rare bacillis. And rare starter canned fruit (a little can of fruit starter costs 60 bucks in some cases such as elderberry) and a shelf of extracts. Its awesome. I don't want to make quantity. I'm going for the quality. High grade hooch pushing 14% alcohol. Root beer champagne. Dandelion wine. Mix wild and merlot grape wine. Domestic scuppernong and concord varieties. Wines they make brandy out of. Grandpa give me his still and I learned a lot from him. Every wine I've made has been a work of art. In 20 years I've only had one bottle explode in making hi test booze.
My dad's friend.....well my friend too, Hans, makes the best wine and brings me down a few bottles everytime he comes down. I think he should come down soon!!laugh drinker :banana:

Quails gate is just down the road and I live under Mission Hills winery.....they are everywhere here!!drinker

The dandelion flowers will be out in 30 days. I will only need 4 or 5 pounds of them cleaned, distilled, and mashed for winemaking. Weedwine. The secret is in the sugar (powdered cane), and letting the correct yeast go bonkers on the mix. Correct water temperature is a must. Thermometers everywhere. Brew too hot- you kill your yeast. Brew too cold- yeast doesn't wake up and eat everything and turn it into alcohol. Brew too short- low alcohol and high sediment. Brew to long- exploding bottles in 40 days. And you have to choose the correct starter berries in your batch for the yeast to attack. Its fun.

My mom told me she had that when she was younger. I believe she danced on a table that time and for some reason we have the pics!!!noway drinker :banana:

I've used everything from elderberries to smuckers grape jelly for starter batter for yeasts. Pineapple and banana gives you exploding bottles. Sticking to berries works best.
