Would you, or have you ever put your child in beauty pageants? If you did, what did you think? How far did you take it?
I'm watching "little miss perfect" about children and the 'pageant moms and dads' that put their kids thru it.

I personally think it's pretty awful. It's totally based on how much money you can spend on lessons, dresses, fake hair, false teeth, and make up on these poor little girls. noway So random people can judge them based on their 'beauty'

These people spend thousands of dollars on pageants. For strangers to pick them as prettier than the rest. I just don't get it. One woman said 'the only reason you would have a problem putting your child in a pageant is because you have an ugly child'noway

I don't need judges to tell me my daughter is beautiful. She doesn't need all that makeup and fake crap. She's beautiful just the way she is.

My kids have done modelling work... but never at my insistance, and actually had nothing to do with me... they were used as photographic models, to promote this region...

as to beauty pageants... sheesh!!!

I thought people loved their kids... who would subject a child to that sort of jackal mentality?

No wonder kids get guns and shoot people when they are older... I couldn't think of anything crueller to subject my child to, under the pretense of love...subjecting them to intense competative critical scrutiny as to whether they are societally attractive, ........than a beauty pageant.

YUK!!!!!!!

My daughter is 21 and beautiful. If she wanted to join them then that is up to her NOW. Not as a child though. Those parents are just awful>>>> I think I have even seen a few on the court shows cuz their child didn't win.

I don't think a child's beauty needs to be judged how expensive their dress is and how much make up and fake hair she has on. This 8 year old actually has fake eye lashes on  mad frustrated
And people think that barbie dolls set a bad image frustrated rant

I have 4 daughters and I would never! To teach them to rely on their looks to get ahead is terrible !
And to teach them to compete with other women is a no-no!

I have a duaghter and people have said that I should PUSH her in that direcion. Well I can tell you this I don't PUSH my kid! I feel that they should do what they enjoy to do. If it's playing in the sand box then so be it. Kids need to be kids. Life is to short.

people are always making comments about how beautiful my daughter is and how i should put her in a pagent, but i do not want the focus in her life to be BEAUTY. i think it is way more important to focus on other things like academics, sports, special talents etc...
i would never put my daughter in a position where she would be cast in competition for beauty, i think that beauty comes form within, and everything else is just gravy....

The thing is, it's not even based on the child's actual natural beauty. It's based on how much money you spend on dresses, fake hair, tans, make up and classes. It really has NOTHING to do with real beauty.

I actually put my kid in one....

I guess the difference was that it was for charity and all the kids won something .... yeah there was a 1st 2nd and 3rd but all the kids were rewarded.

My daughter won 1st place in personality and 2nd in beauty (it was something about her not being ashamed of picking her wedgie on stage and laughing about it that got her the personality)

Even though it was for charity and all in fun the moms and dads around me went above and beyond. MAKING sure that the kids had fun! It was more of a social gathering than anything. The kids went on staged danced around and just had a good time.

Would I do it again... YES...because she had fun she played with other kids her age and interacted with people on different levels than her. Again though it was just a charity event.

Real baby drama mama contests ... Naww im'a pass on those it kills the fun for the kiddos.
