Don't pump gas on May 15th

Body: ...in April 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in
protest of gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon
overnight.

On May 15th 2007, all internet users are urged to not go to a gas
station in protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in
most places.

There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the internet
network, and the average car takes about 30 to 50 dollars to fill up.

If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take
$2,292,000,000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION) out of the oil companys
pockets for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station on May
15th and let's try to put a dent in the Middle Eastern oil industry for
at least one day.

If y ou agree (which I cant see why you wouldnt) send this to all your
contact list. With it saying, ''Don't pump gas on May 15th"

this is a great idea, but has failed many times in the past, because
unfortunately there is too many people,

the problem with too many people is too many character traits,

where as a select few would say , yes lets not pump any gas on the 15th
, and we will teach them, and help everyone else,,
the other select few are selfish and saying , no ,i will pump gas, cause
i need gas.

just like if everyone took a week off from work. we would all lose 1
weeks pay , but the economy would change quick.

problem is, there is not enough willing people.

I on the other hand will not buy gas on the 15th. we shall see what
happens.

I have no problem with it. Just remember, The Federal and state
Government takes more $ from you in taxes than the Oil Co.'s do in
profits.
I never hear that brought up. The politicians never seem to mention that
when they bash the oil companys.

I repeat my yesterday's response:

My opinion:

Its a great idea, but there is no thought behind this protest. I've
seen this protest on many other sites. If no one bought gas one day it
really would NOT effect gas prices, the companies, etc. Rather it would
increase the demand and surplus the need for gas the next day. If we
really wanted to realign the balance of supply and demand we would have
to end our dependence on gasoline entirely, ie. walking/riding a bike to
work. A temporary break from buying gasoline will compensate itself
when you go back to the pumps...a day, a week, a month later. Also such
relief>then sudden need for gas could infact raise gas prices. I will be
buying gas the 15th, LOL, seeing as though if everyone else is
not...chances are gas will be cheaper the 15th rather than the 16th.

I dont want this to sound rude by any means but knowing a bit about the
situation. I will tell you that it will never affect the oil companies
directly. The only ones you will end up hurting are the independant
stations. One day of not pumping gas will never be noticed because the
very next day all those same people will be back buying gas anyway. If
you want something to be done about oil prices get involved, contact a
congressman & let them know how you feel. Unfortunately gas prices are
more of a political game & the result of speculators than anything else.
The other thing you may want to think about is the fact that the credit
card companies make more on a gallon of gas than the station owners do.
Just food for thought, you all will do what you please anyway, I just
wanted to try & put a lil perspective on things. The only ones loving
the high gas prices are the credit card companies & the oil
stockholders. Anyway I wish you all a great day. Take care!
