I think a lot of people confuse creativity with being artistic. While art is a form of creativity, they are not the same. Accountants can be creative.

I've been looking at what creativity means as well and what I've come to so far is that it is about building something from nothing. Whether an idea or concept or a thing, it starts with nothing.

To me, it is also clear that creativity happens between two or more people. So, there's an element of community involved in the creative process. It always has an impact on another whether directly or indirectly.


I wonder what the word means to you.

I agree on most points. I can tell you that I am a writer and it is a solitary activity. So, I don't agree totally on stating that it is between two or more people. I don't ask for advise or ideas on any of my writings. That's not to say that I am not influenced by people, circumstances or past experience, because I am.

I believe in giving people full credit for their creative endeavors. I think in most examples, many create on their own without advise or involvement of others. That's the creative part-you don't feel a need to have assistance.

It starts with imagination and bears fruit, creativity can be anything from an invention, to artistry, to a new way of perfecting your craft/job or breaking through barriers of the mind. What is it your creative thinking brings you?

My own definition:

Creativity is the ability to solve a problem by which one creates an outcome that is appealing to one or more of the 5 human senses, touch, sight, smell, hearing and taste. If the outcome comes from a gifted talented individual then the hidden human 6th sense is aroused which I believe is spiritual. Sometimes one's ingenious creativity can take our breath away. I'm sure we've all had that experience just watching a painted sky at sunset.
