If I didn't have an appointment on lunch time, I'd ask the co-worker to go with me and let him cry on my shoulder in a more appropriate setting than work.

I have been in this situation after my husband passed away so I would stay and offer what I could

It depends on how close I was with the co-worker. I would most likely suggest they go home or offer to call someone for them. I wuld listen, but if they can't stay and work, that is the last place they need to be. They should be with someone who knows and loves them.

1. Clock out
2. See if the co-worker could go with me
3. If not, stay and talk to them and apologize for my growling stomach, lol.
