How can you tell if your having true contractions i think im having them now....

All I can say is that most people, if they were contracting (which by the way is like period cramps but it hurts so flipping bad you can barely breathe)....

Most people wouldn't think to go online and ask. They'd call a friend or their mother or a nurse hotline, at the very least.

If she was in early labor she would be asking friends..but by all means get to the hospital

How far along are you??? Could be braxton hicks........or maybe not!!

I would agree that you really should call your doctor or your hospital the nurses they will help figure it out with you.


Contractions do feel like really bad cramps unless you have back labor which sometimes feel more like an ache or a pulled muscle. Contractions would be reoccurring on a periodic time basis 15-20 minutes apart usually to start and then growing closer together.

And for the gross out factor, if you water breaks you do need to get a hospital immediately, but it won't always break, you may need a few more contractions, or if you have any idea of what the mucus plug is, if you've lost it, then yes you probably are in labor.
