ARLINGTON, Texas - Arlington resident Donny Hilgeman was leery of economic uncertainty. He began entering online sweepstakes and hoping for good fortune.

And, good fortune did come his way.

Hilgeman won free gas for the next 20 years.

The prize was actually the grand prize in a contest sponsored by the National Auto Club. A company called Autovantage will write him a check each year for $1,750 for the next two decades, he said.

“I’m thinking this is one less thing I have to worry about,” he said.

Hilgeman flies more frequently than he drives. But the 44-year-old American Airlines flight attendant said he is now considering a few road trips to visit several state parks he’s always wanted to see.
