Wow, Rockmybobbysocks, you sure were sick. I hope this is a much better year for you after the surgery. flowerforyou

What you are saying about the criteria - that's what I heard too.

I do know other adults that had the surgery. Yes, it's painful.
I've heard that it hurts the adults more then the children.

its been 1 week and 1 day since the doctor removed my tonsiles and i just wanted all of you to know that it was more painful than anything i've ever experienced and that wasn't my first surgery.

so for those of you who said it would be a walk in the park...

ARE YOU FREAKIN NUTS!!!???

thanks.

your tonsils are actually there taking in the toxins in your body
by removing them its a temp fix,
you still get sick either way.......just takes longer to heal with them out

i was told the exact opposite by way too many people.

not just doctors but people who've had theirs removed.

i did alot of research before doing the surgery and have found the majority of people who have them removed do not get sick as often or even at all. and if they do get sick, it is not nearly as severe as it was when they had their tonsiles.

your information, wolf, is directly clashing with everything i found in my research before the procedure.

but then i guess i'll find out in years to come as there's no goin back now huh..

yeah my doc is awesome as he doesn't sugarcoat anything. he flat out told me that its gonna suck rocks. that kids bounce back soo fast compared to the mass amount of pain adults feel. i had a massive absess in my throat on new years day that had me in the emergency room in soo much pain and i couldn't breathe and he told me this pain would be worse

and damn if was right.

they've got me on.. um... percoset? percocet? yeah that stuff. holy cow. its strong.

when the meds start wearing off and i start feelin pain again.. i start shivering like crazy.

How scary New Year's must have been for you.

That is some intense pain that you're having. From what you've been saying, it's so going to be worth it in the long run.flowerforyou

My child is borderline on the criteria. One doc said yes and one said no. I'm watching it. The school absences have been getting less as they get older. There were way too many absences with strep throat, throat infections, and tonsil infections.

I had my tonsils taken out last year and I would rather give birth to triplets three times without an epidural than go through that again!

I ended up in the hospital 1 week later from dehydration. I couldn't figure out how the neon colored butterflies kept getting into the house and I just couldn't catch them!

4 bottles of liquid hydrocodone or whatever pansy medicine they gave me for pain did not cut it.

I finally drove myself to the ER without telling anyone where I was going. 3 bags of saline and a couple of pain shots later, they called my parents to have them come pick me up.

Tonsils should have stayed where God put them, in my throat!

I will say an extra prayer for you.

P.S. It will taste like you have severly burnt, wet popcorn kernels in your mouth for about 3 months.....sick sick sick

The taste does eventually go away, though.

As far as illness goes, I have had alot fewer infections and sore throats. But the sore throats I do get is a different kind of pain. It still hurts, but not as bad. Good luck to you and keep taking the meds. Make sure you stay hydrated, that is the most important thing.

thanks meg. oh my god thats horrible. i called the ENT doc like twice (well my mom did) because i kept spitting up blood and vile infection stuff and mom got scared and they told her to force me to drink a whole glass of water every hour to staunch the thirst and water down the phlem from the surgery.

they said if i spit up nothing but blood i needed to go to the ER. but i was okay.

YEAAAHH!! it tastes like infection. like burnt bacon or something. its horrible.

i'm sooo glad you mentioned that because i thought i was nuts.

No - but the taste will drive you nuts! I started to say something about spitting stuff up and not to worry. Sorry to be so gross, but as the scabs start to heal, they will come up, too. But yes, look for just blood and if you see it, head straight to the ER. I have felt your pain, literally. I wish you a very, very speedy recovery and no bad tastes!
