In actuality, opposites could not maintain a relationship or dating status without some kind of commonality. In a sense, if you do not maintain a common ground it remains hard to keep a dating type relationship alive and thriving. As for attraction, well the eyes may intitially become attracted, but the mind keeps the relationship going.
