Topic: Did you doubt when you said yes at the alter | |

On your big day as you stood ready to chuck yourself upon the sacrificial throne, did you have doubts just before saying yes? Or what were your thoughts?

Nope...
I thought it would last forever. It lasted 9 months. Long boring story. I figure it was my practice marriage. Next time... ill get it right! |

Nope, I had no doubts........but then people change and life's circumstances do as well.

I remember shaking like a leaf and my legs being wobbly all the way up and thinking "I can always get a divorce", but it was just from being scared. It didn't work out after 13 years, but I definitely tried my darndest and rarely gave divorce a thought until the last year!!

With my second marriage yes. I wanted to run while we were saying our dos. It lasted 2 years because he turned out to be an abusive alcoholic.

Martyrdom has its merits , and see it doing a test run on second best, before getting first best. What concerns me is there are no male comments - dont you find that odd? Time will tell.

I didn't have any doubts until the Minister stopped in the middle of the vows and said that there were 3 rings to marriage...
The engagement ring... The wedding ring.... And suffering.... Then proceeded to ask us til death do us part.... Maybe he should have spoken up himself when he asked if there was anyone that opposed this marriage...Seeing as he was a good friend of my soon to be ex... |

Well there is nothing wrong with marriage, and perhaps just realizing it’s the starting point of knowing each other and not the finishing line of taking the other for granted.

Yes and next time I will trust my instincts.

I had my doubts, but I had the pink glasses on, and love was in the air. Lasted almost 5 years (age 19.5-24), but turns out she only wanted the status of living in the USA, and a green card...
long story short. I'm happier than ever without her. Now looking for #2 |

Yes and next time I will trust my instincts. There are times when instincts are not entirely reliable…and talking is the only viable way of examining to lay doubts to rest. |

Yes I was an hour late for my own wedding. I guess my feeling was correct since he went to jail on our honeymoon. |

My dad was walking me up the driveway.... I got married under a gum tree in my folk's front yard.... and he said, " It's not too late to change your mind , love."
I replied, " Oh Dad, everyone is here, it is too late." He replied, " Wrong answer, Love." SO did I have doubts? I was reluctant from the get go.... the drag marks up the drive way were testimony to that... 18 years later I called it quits.... I guess I am a bit of a stubborn one... |

Yes I was an hour late for my own wedding. I guess my feeling was correct since he went to jail on our honeymoon. Seakolony it is difficult to know what to say – it must have destroyed you. Was it long ago, and how are you now about it. Do you accept hugs? |
