Please, all you ladies, get yourselves checked for this! That is the reason I'm here. This absolutely hidious disease took my wife from me. If just one of you would be saved by being checked, it would mean the world to me. Thank you, Dan.

Sorry for your loss.

It would be great if men could be tested for the human papilloma virus strain that causes cancer also. It's quite unfortunate that they are silent carriers and pass it to women, completely unaware of what they're doing. That's why abstinance or safe sex are best!

oops. that's cervical cancer. I read it wrong. Still good advice though.

I have a dear friend fighting ovarian cancer. She's doing awesome!! But she told me about a blood test that can detect it super early. It's written down at work....but it's C something 125......ask your doctor about it. It's a test that most insurance companies won't pay for and it will give you a marker if you have the disease. It costs about $160....but when you consider the many tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars you might spend fighting this once it's detected.....

$160 doesn't seem like all that much.

Check it out.

The blood test is the CA125 - I don't know if some insurances pay or not, but you are right, it is worth the money if they find the cancer early.

So sorry for your loss Dan.

Please insist on the test............ui have had them done for years it was the GI dr that told the Gyno one about the test.

The Gi dr was on the ball. Many Dr.s dont want to try new things. Insist, it saves lives. ca-125 gave them a clear picture to what is going on. You always have a level, It is the changes in the numbers that shows major changes, SAdlly this was used on men long ago for cancer. They( the medical communitee) failed women in this test. And guess what it works for us too.

No, not a dumb azz. Over 70% of the population carries some strain of the HPV virus. Many women who end up with cervical cancer have contracted some strain. Many strains of the virus do not show any symptoms in men or women. So, it's a good idea for women to be checked with this test, particularly if they have had an abnormal pap smear anytime in their lives.

So sorry for the loss of your wife Dan. Thank you for bringing up the topic. Wishing you light and love:smile:

Dan sorry for your loss.

Hopefully your words will encourage checkups. Have a very good Friend who is a survivor.

Men over 40 should also get screened for prostrate cancer.

i had a ex bf that was having issue with his privates for 3yrs as where it would get infected. he ended in the hospitol once for it. but it didnt help any to find out what was the problem. he was finally sent to ohsu in portland for exploritory surgery and he died a few days after that(he died on thanksgiving 2 yrs ago) as to find out in the autopsy he had cancer but what he actually died from was a blood clot in his heart.. way before he was even sent to the hospitol he had stated the doc were stating that they may remove his privates if the infection wouldnt heal, but you know if he had survived and they removed his privates im pretty sure he would had felt more useless
