Nah, I don't deal with the occult. But by going off of what you said, you've proven my own point for me. SAY WHAT!! tarot has NOTHING!!! to do with the occult Nothing at all!?! Oh man, I'm not even touching that one. I'd rather be drinking. |

Tarot cards were originally designed for a card game similar to bridge.
They evolved from ancient playing cards and they differ from standard playing cards only in the fact that more cards were added to a deck of regular playing cards. The added cards were the trumps known as "trionfi" which means triumps. Also added were four queens and the fool. So why add 26 more cards to the standard deck of cards? It was for the development of the game. Today, tarot games are point-trick games in which you must trump if you have no card of the suit led. The 21 new trump cards were added to perform the then new role of being trumps. The four queens eventually replaced the pages in a modern standard deck of cards, but the pages still remain in most tarot decks as part of the court cards. When looking for the origin of tarot cards themselves, you will find that most historians agree that the first deck of tarot cards was created in Milan (northern Italy) sometime in the early 15th century. These cards were designed as playing cards. The thing that set this new card deck apart from others was the addition of the four queens, the fool, and 21 trump cards. If we are looking for the origin of what we know as the traditional occult tarot decks we see today, then we have to look to the origin of regular playing cards in general. If you insist on drawing a hard line between regular playing cards and occult tarot cards, it might be hard to draw such a line because regular playing cards have been and are still used for occult purposes and divination, and tarot cards have been and are still used for playing card games. There is no real hard line between the two. It is all in how they are used and in how you think of them. Occult Tarot: The nature of the images on the Tarot trumps have led people to read occult meanings into the cards. This practice goes back to the 18th century. Although the first known Tarot fortune tellers were from Bologna (and used the Bolognese pack), the currently popular mystical interpretations of the cards originated in France in the last quarter of the century, and use the Tarot de Marseilles and packs derived from it. Tarot de Marseilles is the forerunner of the modern occult Tarot packs. Used in France until they changed to French suited Tarot cards. |

thanks for the history lesson
Course that's not the only theory but it's a pretty sound one. Much better than the fruitcakes that want to trace tarot all the way back to the first roman card game. People would be amazed if they knew half of the stuff that occult practitioners brought to this country. I laugh my but off when I see earwax candles in beauty stores. . . I don't hang out in beauty stores, I mean.. .... um. |

Well I would like to know what the cards say about my love life...will I ever find the one I am looking for?
Am I better off alone? |

I don't hang out in beauty stores, I mean.. .... um. I did a pretty good investigation on the origin of the Tarot and it lead to the origin of regular playing cards. Playing cards have been used for divination and the occult for as long as there have been playing cards although they were not meant as such. Playing cards may have originated in China. Most card games involved playing for money. You can blame the word "Tarot" on the french who started the first "occult" deck. Tarot also means "trump." The term 'occult' simply means 'hidden knowledge.' I don't think the language of the Tarot is hidden anymore.. Just like "The Secret" is not a secret. |

Well I would like to know what the cards say about my love life...will I ever find the one I am looking for? Am I better off alone? ---- ---- The cards indicate that you are currently somewhat involved with someone already and that you are going through phases, some good, some bad. You are disillusioned and disappointed and you are reviewing and reevaluating your close personal relationships. This process itself is as important as the conclusions you reach. If you are uninvolved, you examine your current situation and make steps to make major lifestyle changes. You can't quite sever the ties of the past or current affair because of a deep psychic attraction. You may be coping with issues from a previous life that need to be worked out. If you want to move on, you may first need to find some sort of closure and that would involve understanding. Attachment is not necessarily true 'love,' but it is bond of love that comes from experience. You have to look at a potential partner with a more practical mind. (What do you have in common? What do you agree on? How do you feel when you are together? What are your dreams for the future?) Just because you feel love for someone, that does not mean that you were meant to spend your life together. When you are ready to receive a new man in your life, he will appear, but you are not in that energy right now. |

Hi Jeannie, I hope all is good with you. Could you draw the cards for the month of March for me? Just seeing how it will fair in all aspects of life would be great. Thank you ---- ---- ---- In March you are on the move. Like Indiana Jones, a traveler and adventurer for whom the quest is everything. His eagerness and energy burn at the center of his being and always propel him forward. He doesn't look back. You are the Knight of Wands. This knight possess a deep spiritual center that even he may not be aware of consciously. The bottom line is, get on with it. Do what ever it is you have been wanting to do. Remain upbeat and positive; these attributes help your current situation change more quickly. Six of cups: Generally happy times form the hearth of this card. Old memories, new opportunities, childhood, children, nostalgia. Skills and abilities that haven't been used for a while are likely to be resurrected. A missed opportunity needs to be reconsidered; past efforts bring future rewards. Don't dwell on past glory, look to the future. You best times are ahead, not behind you. Knight of swords: You charge forward conquering everything in your path. You ride bravely into the storm, waving your sword, all bravado and courage, eager to overcome every obstacle. This knight represents a situation where you can expect a whirlwind of social activity. This may include short trips out of town, gatherings where ideas are exchanged (conferences and workshops, classes etc.) and a sudden positive surge in your work. Nine of Wands: The glitch: Just when you are moving along you hit a glitch or a brief pause. To prevail you will need to draw on all of your courage and abilities and you are up for the challenge. One last challenge remains, but you are in a position of strength, so don't give up. Start planning your next course of action. Think before you leap. |

I pulled the 10 of Swords for my daily card today. I'm really hoping it's just because I am sick and still have to go to work this afternoon.

I pulled the 10 of Swords for my daily card today. I'm really hoping it's just because I am sick and still have to go to work this afternoon. You seem to pull that one a lot. My friend Darla would always get the nine of swords. I have short buzz descriptions for each card to help learn them in the beginning. Nine of swords: Oh my God!! (worry card) Ten of swords: Woe is me! (Yours was Woe is me, I have to go to work and I feel like crap.) Two of swords: Stale mate. (Torn between two choices) Three of swords: Heart break Four of swords: Time out. Five of swords: Bad win. Six of swords: Getting away from it all. Seven of swords: Beware. Eight of swords: Mental prison. ********************************************************** Drawing the ten of swords consistently, I would guess that you are engaging in some negative thinking. Are you 'trying' to keep a positive attitude all the while you hear this voice inside of you that dashes each positive thought on the rocks with your inner disbelief? You must work up to your positive thoughts in such a gradual way that each one builds upon the other one and each one is believable. For example a disparately poor person will never convince himself that he is rich just by thinking and pretending that he is. His inner voice will just laugh at him and picture poverty. A very ill person cannot convince them self that they are well when they are feeling like crap. You have to work up to it with thoughts that you can believe. Instead of telling yourself that you are well and feeling fine when you are not, you should tell yourself that you feel better today. Change your posture and attitude and be grateful that you are feeling a little better today. If you are not feeling a little better today, then tell yourself that inside, you are healing and request your higher mind to direct you towards only doing things that will be beneficial to improving your health. Sit up strait, don't slouch. You have to tell yourself positive things, but only things that you can actually believe. ********************************************************* That ramble was just off the top of my head. |

No I think you have me confused with someone else. I was drawing a lot of swords for a while but I hadn't drawn the ten of swords.

Definitley "woes me". Yes that was probably how you were feeling. Woe is me, I feel like crap and I have to go to work.. The ten of swords would be that energy. I may have you confused with someone else who was drawing the ten of swords a lot. |

Spiritual Tarot reading for Thursday, Feb. 26 2009
Card Drawn: Three of Cups THE READING: CELEBRATION and Good times. This card represents whatever fills you with joy. It is a celebration. I call it the "Party Time!" card. SPIRITUAL MEANING: Group interactions with people of like mind lead to a spiritual awakening. Through shared ceremony and ritual you experience a renewed feeling of inner peace and reverence for ALL. You celebrate your life and share its joy and wonder with those around you. The three is always a group card and the cups represent LOVE so this card often means getting together with those you love most, be it your family or good friends. |
