Slowly removing bricks one at a time is a much better way than bulldozing. Since we are talking about people here. At least in my experience.

yes I built a brick wall but not around me.. Around someone else, so they can't get to me again. I will continue to live my "options" open to the world. But this persons' options are blocked. I find it better this way.

Hmmmmm.....Common sense.... and an objective non emotional viewpoint, owning and being responsible for YOUR own actions in a relationship, are the ways to NOT build stupid walls around oneself.
When most are whining about the need to be hooked up with someone, and then waxing lyrical about what this person must be capable of to get past prior hurts...people who are mature enough to own their own sh*te, are getting on with RELATING to other people, without romanticised codependency dramas. |

Yes. I have. The only problem I had was that not only did it keep people out it locked me in too. I still have some walls up, but I know now when to let someone in or me out. With out some protection one could be open to hurt. It's not easy just to tear down what took so long to build-up.
