After reading the posts on Vonage and the suggestion of the Magic Jack, I abandoned the idea of Vonage and actually got the Magic Jack.


I love it! I get my own phone number, can call anywhere in the US for free, get free call waiting, caller ID, voice messaging, 411, call forwarding, and it doesn't interferre with my internet connection.
It sets itself up when you plug it in, pretty much idiot proof. The only drawback I have found, is that the prefixes can be limited depending on your area, and you have to have internet. Other than that, it's a snap to install and use.
I have dropped my regular phone to just the bare bones basic. I do reccomend the Magic jack, it has five star ratings from CNN, NBC, ABC, ESPN and others....even my phone company reccomended it.

I've had mine for a few months now...and I wouldn't be without it. I also tried Vonage, but with the low price of Magic Jack($19.95 per YEAR!), and the quality I experienced with both...Magic Jack wins out, hand down! The only other draw back is that you have to have your computer on, for it to work...but it out weighs the outrageous price of Vonage! I can live with it. I'm fixing to opt for the 5 years of service for $59.95...best deal on the Net. Enjoy yours, because I am with mine.

I got it too and I love it! And since I'm always leaving my PC on anyway, that's really not an issue, lol.

I know you love it, just as much as I do mine...you really can't help it. It's such a bargain!

Yeah, it works great, and since I got three home PCs and two laptops, I always have one in the spare bedroom on. This is one of the sweetest deals I have ever come across!!

I have one as well, and was a Vonage customer. It have some draw backs in losing the sound or it will be cutting sometimes during the call. I have 8MB cable internet so I should be fine regarding my connection!

My neighbor got it a lil while back and he loves it too. Hes got one of those verizon wireless internet things on his laptop and he says hes making free calls to this chick in romania so maybe international calls are free too?

Don't have a magic jack, consider it, but listen to this story about Vonage.

I ordered it, and later found out, that I need to install another phone line or go back to the cable tv internet in order to use it, because it doesn't work on DSL internet .

So I talked to the vonage customer help, and they recommended to send it back. So as I did, they charged me 50 bucks anyway, and later another 50 bucks for next month (I got the stuff at the end of the month) and they refused to refund me. I didn't even f..king used the thing, it never left from the package box! Meanwhile they also charged me for the equipment price (can't remember how much), even though I sent it back, with the excuse that "they supposed to receive it by August 15 " or whatever, and they only got it on the 16th, and the warranty does not cover beyond the 15th or some similar BS. I basically got ripped off about 150 bucks or something for absolutely nothing! Just to make it even worse, they refused to stop charging my bank account, despite I sent the stuff back, so even when I threatened to sue them, they kept saying, that I signed some sort of an agreement for an entire year and they gonna charge me every month, even if I don't have the equipment and neither using the sevice! So I actually had to go out to my bank, put a stop on them and later change my account number! Ridiculous enough yet?

STAY CLEAR OF VONAGE!!!!!! I keep telling everyone. Dirty business, and a bunch of a...holes.
