joined and has been/is a member of "any" diet fad?

How is it working, how did not work, what was the worst or best experience you've experience(d)?

Did you meet your weight goal, did you fail, or you're still trying?

No fad diets here. Excercise and healthy eating are what I employ when I need to lose weight.

Physical exertion in excess of caloric intake is my diet plan.

It worked, but requires regular/continuous attention.

Dropped about 30 pounds, in one year, and transformed some excess weight into toned muscle.

No pills. No fads. Walk a bit faster, climb stairs a bit more vigorously, handle things with more physical control than is needful, and keep pushing the metabolic rate a teensy bit higher than is comfy, as a habit.

(And also be a tad masochistic, deriving a bit of self-approval from the daily pains that result. heh heh)smokin

The most important part of dieting is to make your own food as much as possible (not eating out ESPECIALLY not fast food) and keeping the portions under control. The MOST helpful book I have ever read is called Dr. Gundry's Diet Evolution. It was written by a heart surgeon who actually managed to help prevent some of his patients from even having to under go heart surgery by following his diet plan.

No fad diets here. You can read all those hippy-dippy books on how to lose weight quickly, but in the end it's a matter of how much slop you force down your pie hole. Limit the number of meals you scam down your gullet, and you'll lose inches. It'd also help if you got off your keester and did some activity once in a while as well.

This reminds me of a skit I once saw Richard Jeni do. Here's a thumbnail:

"I've got a tape for those of you that want to lose weight and have not been able to do so. It's not a video tape. It's not an audio tape. It's a piece of tape that you put over your mouth so you don't shovel any more ice cream into it..."

The "it's almost my birthday, holy crap ...I'm divorced, financially bent, stressed, do I really want to start dating again...yes I do, but am I really into this" diet has helped recently. bigsmile

And in the past the South Beach diet helped a lot. Completely changed my taste buds... for the better!

My favorite book is 'Fit or Fat' by Covert Bailey.
Details how metabolism hows, how weight is gained or lost.
No dieting involved.

Personally I eat what I want, when I want. Since we have no idea if there is anything to eat on the other side, I figure I better fill up now.

HOWEVER, since I've put on about 40 lbs in the last 5 yrs I have decided I should save room just in case the food is good on the other side.laugh

Actually I have never been much of a dieter. I do regulate my carbs and sugar intake. I also excercise alot naturally.

When I was younger I think I tried the grapefruit diet and no it didn't work. I did get sick of grapefruits though.

Screw "diets"

It's called eating healthy and exercising.

Which everyone should just do to be healthy. If you're trying to lose weight, and you reach your goal, that doesn't mean to stop..you'll just gain it back.

That's also the problem with "diets." Many people reach their weight goal stop the "diet" and go back to how they used to be, then eventually gain it all back.

If you want to have and maintain a healthy weight you need to maintain a healthy lifestyle. LIVEit not diet. ;]
