I was washing my winter coat, something that I use to dry clean, as I paid to me what felt like a lot of money, but I always wanted this jacket but could never afford it, but the start of winter I treated myself.. So I wanted to take care of it. But the takes said that is was machine friendly so I decided to try it. Went through the wash just fine, but I went to go take it out of the dryer and, a AND THE MACHINE F*CKING WRECKED MY COAT! The whole cuff of my left sleeve, MELTED! WTF! OMG, my Columbia jack GARBAGE! $200 down the freaking drain! I am SO pissed right now! When I spend that much on a coat, I want it to at least last me a couple of winters, NOT a couple of months!
shocked mad rant sad surprised

The same thing happened to me a couple of years ago. I had a rain coat with a liner that said it wash machine washable and dryable. The liner came out of the dryer with sleeves the size of a midgets arms.grumble

I do not care if it is a North Face, or some no name coat, when a article of clothing claims to be machine washable and dryable it better well damn be!

Whisper, you can do one of two things, try to take it back to the store where you bought it (if you have the receipt) and see if they'll take it back. Or, contact the manufacturer directly, explain the problem and see if they will correct it. Columbia's a pretty big company, I'd hazard a guess they'll replace it. Good luck!

I agree about contacting the company. They should replace it. In the future, do what I do....when they say machine was....I never have a problem with the washer.....but always, always, always hang to dry. I never dry in a dryer. They either shrink or melt as you have found out. Sorry to hear about that happening. Hope you can get it replaced....good luck!!

Trust me, the number has already been looked up. first thing tomorrow they will be hearing from me. I would take it back to the store but I threw the receipt after the 30 days return policy expired.
