The original Cinderella story was darker than what it has become after Disney got a hold of it....Most of the old stories that Disney has done were deeper and darker but were made pretty for movies...
I was raised on the Brothers Grimm along with Brier Bear and Brier Rabbit... No fancy foo foo stories for this young lady....
